I just bought KKnD and every time I try to open the game it says that it failed to direct draw. How do I go about fixing this please?

Quick look at the game's forum doesn't show that to be a common error, so your best bet would be to contact support. Support link for KKnD2 is here.

Other than contacting support u can also try posting the problem u encountered in the game's sub-forum as there's a higher chance someone may hv came across the same issue & wld be able to help u.

DirectDraw is (or was) associated with DirectX; going by the <i>KKND</i> product page you should make sure you have DirectX 9 installed (a requirement a lot of the older games sold here share; don't worry, installing it won't in any way affect any later versions of DirectX you have installed). It might have something to do with that.

Direct Draw, that sounds like Directx issue, you do have DirectX installed I presume - click Start and in the box type dxdiag. Should show you what version DX your running and such like, get the latest one you can.

Why'd you link to the second game's support form? ;) For this game, the latest would probably be useless -- he'd need DX 9.

Some people tend to ignore the games' number when posting for help, and I'm not that familiar with the KKnD series to be able to recognize which game the error refers to. Thus I give both links, in case the second is the one that's needed.

KKnD needs some older DirectX components, which aren't part of current versions any more.
You can install the DirectX End-User Runtimes (June 2010) from Microsoft to complete your current version. It's the latest version including what you need. Your newer DirectX components won't be affected.

Download and start the file to unpack it.
Select a separate folder for unpacking, because it'll be a lot of files.
Then go there and run DXSETUP.exe to start the actual installation.
You can delete the folder with all the unpacked files afterwards.
Check if KKnD is working now.
