oh the horror, first game i stepped out after finishing the first part of the tutorial, today i wanted to continue with some mindless slaughter, killed the nome for example that decided he could sell information regarding the experiment possibly leading the dark elves towards this institute, after i killed the bear that threatened him of course, not to mention the 2 wolves sitting there idle but then... then my heart froze in horror.... A draw distance error, oke i can live with details filling rock formations or classical stone works as you get nearer to the place but rocks changing shapes. Bah!

To me it those bugs or errors or relics of the past are close to dealbreakers, i mean if i find whole area's changing shape all the time it is certainly over but for a couple of those bugs in lets say 10 mins i guess i can find the love to continue and to be honest if you are fighting you have no time to look at that sorts of bugs happening.

Nier Automata too btw, if i didn't discover that turning of any form of alias would eradicate most draw errors i probably would not have spend any time playing the game. ( not to mention that with sharpening i find that the world becomes almost as beautiful as the result with using THAT mod with the extra texture package )

How much can you stand? what is the point that you say you enough is enough. Are you more the princess on the pillow or do you feel as solid as metal no matter what happens in a game?

Steam gives 60% discount and the original, and we get no original and 10% discount, and you splashed out a massive pile of cash. Do you feel a bit silly? It was clear from the release debacle how this was going to play out.

Or: "How much can you stand inside of a wooden beam?" - that is the question. Like Geralt.
The original was so mediocre, i don't even understand why a remaster, that changed nothing about the flaws, was needed...
This reminds me of a video of some game with cars (I believe it was a modern Grand Theft Auto game) that I saw. The graphics were extremely realistic, but you had some cars suddenly popping into existence as the player (or the cars) moved, creating a bit of dissonance.

I'm wondering if graphical flaws are more of an issue in games with more realistic graphics than in games with either primitive graphics (Super Mario 64 if you're thinking 3D games) or with an art style that isn't photo-realistic (like that one open world Zelda game).

With that said, that "error" you mention is something that wouldn't bother me unless it starts to hinder gameplay. (Then again, maybe some troll game could take advantage of draw distance effects to great effect.) It certainly isn't as bad as, say, falling through the floor in an Elder Scrolls game, or the game outright crashing on you, or being softlocked (which can happen without any coding bugs).

Then again, I mostly play 2D games, where you don't have things like draw distance in the first place.

Probably GTA4, that was littered with bugs like cars floating or sinking through the ground.

Pretty sure the 60% discount applied only to those who already owned the EA release. It was 50% for owners + the same 10% that applied to GOG. The old EA version is also no longer for sale on Steam afaik.

as with all the games preceeding it.

if you played the original GTA long enough giant people would run across the street filling the screen. it wasnt a bug and carried over to the following games.
it was "if this is messing you up, you are messed up, now GO TO BED YOU STONER!"

of course, giant people were not the only thing...

If I'm not mistaken, Electronic Arts still has the publishing rights to the original version.

Yes, so steam users get the original game which they have had for a long time, we don’t, and because of that we don’t get the extra 50% discount. It’s lose lose for GOG customers. Not to mention the remaster itself really did nothing to the game. This has to be the one single biggest middle finger given to GOG users in a long time.

Agreed. Developer is also on my blacklist, and I have strong doubts about buying anything further from THQ for publishing this, so they have lost sales on other games on my list as well.

You can't call their line-up less then impressive

I mean, not sure how this really sits with developer or publisher rights or whatever, maybe its switch things but look at that amazing line-up of games they mention over on their site.

Wasteland 3 and Desperado's 3 atm at their release are already considered top of their line, Metro redux! , Remnant From the Ashes!! Vampire Bloodlines 2, Saints Row IV, Grid and knights of honor II

The expansion... that's what i payed for, not to mention a soundtrack and some twinkles, maybe some patches along the way

Mediocre? one of the best arpg's of that year? If the combat style did not suit you then yes it could be considered mediocre, with all that money spent some more interactivity or better quest lines then the game would already be somewhat more of a not so specific crowd thing, still most reviewers tend to see the game as almost perfect on the combat and level up plane

and that is all? Why is that all ? can't you see the difference in situations. Don't belief that nightcrawler dude who's probably stuck under some rock again!

his statements are almost as worse as claiming epic exclusives are even worst then blizzard's line of game and previously EA's too ( before they decided to change )

ofc if you just wanted to yell your input is more then welcome

Rock? You think a) not releasing the original here, and b) then not giving GOG users the same discount as another store is somehow beneficial?
If you want GOG to continue being the higher price second rate store it currently is then fine, but don’t blame me for pointing it out.

Let me try text once more, or I will switch to pictures:
Steam gets original GOG does not = steam wins
Steam gets extra 50% discount, GOG does not = steam wins
Dev adds reshade to game, introduces some bugs and makes loads of money = devs win
Nowhere does it say GOG wins!

Oh, and bearing in mind how little they have done with the old version the “expansion” is likely to be nothing more than a new wallpaper for the intro, with a massive glowing purple middle finger!

Was hoping for the old version on GOG, don't want the new one.

Lets start with saying that, as you already saw yourself that i'm indeed deeply depressed by the draw error i witnessed in the game but i also bought the game fully knowing that this is supposed to be a freshened up engine and not a complete overhaul of the game. I also noticed that most draw errors that exist in the original seem to have polished so that is also something i see as good. Furthermore i did buy the game on steam for a price which i could find oke since i did not play or own the expansions for the game. I was also contemplating to purchase the ultimate edition of control on GoG since on epic i own only the game without the expansions and with the price of the ultimate edition with launch discount being almost the same as the price you would pay for the expansion pass i see those overthinkings as logical.
so please understand that from my point of view i bought actually quite the nice deal which i'm certain to use for at least another 60 or maybe even 100+ hours and that for 20 euro!

Back to you

I do understand that you want the original here on GoG but that said, the original is also not available anymore on steam

the discount was only available to those that owned the original game so in no way the same discount could be granted to gog users since that would be very wrong from the sight of all the players who supported the game when it launched
personally i don't feel GoG had the bad part of the deal since they can add a sort of new game to their library which is sure to bring some other players to the menu

Now for the price, i can really say anything about it. It does seem that a price of 30 euro's would seem more apropiate then the full range of 40 euro's but then again, i did not play through the whole story to be able to justify the content for that price.

Kingdoms of Amalur is a huge game with a nice story certainly capable of entertaining people for more then 40 to a 100 hours or even more so yea...
