I am level 13 and am taking on enemies of lvl 20 and around there. I am on floor 27 where Kaos is supposed to be. Enemies are easy because I got a really cool build and upgraded stuff.

It doesn't seem like kaos is anywhere. There's no main quest and I think that the only main quests are in expansion packs.

Has anyone else failed this?

The only Fate game I know is the one from Wild Tangent and I don't have any expansion packs.

If we're talking about the same game, you'll receive the main quest from the wizard just outside the dungeon entrace in the town. The quest varies every game and is usually on a level in the fourties.

When you complete the main quest the game doesn't end though, and you can keep playing to see how far you can descend into the dungeon. I've done that a couple of times because I've had some really good gear and felt it was a shame to just let it go to waste. My hero just wasn't ready to retire yet!

When you are ready to retire, just talk to the wizard and you can pass one item on to your next hero. I found some nice gems that give a 20% money bonus and a 40% chance to find magic items bonus so I generally socket these into an item and hand that item to my next character who then gets an imp in the town to destroy the item and thus preserve the gems that my new character can then make use of. Since finding those gems, I haven't felt it necessary to proceed beyond the dungeon level of the main quest as I don't feel I'll find a better reward. And I feel it's cheating a bit to pass on an item worth many millions to my new character to sell as it then takes away a bit of the tension from the early levels since you don't have to really "work" a bit first to be able to afford some good gear.
Obviously a different Fate than the one I had in mind
I'm Fating everyone in their face with a pole. Sorry, a Pole.
Is it the Fate which is kind of the Torchlight prequel? I really want to play that.

....Interesting start to the day, Amazon has all 3 on sale so I grabbed them. I don't even know if it's what the OP is talking about. :P

Ok, this is just a really bad game.

I found out that you have to get lvl 50 on the dungeon. Tjhat is extremely tedious. I could see if it was lvl 30 but thats not worth my time.

On top of that, the game is difficult beyond thinking. Past lvl 27 the enemies, hit for half my health per hit and they come in droves.

To make matters worse the death system is very bad. The only option that makes sense is the one that makes you go 2 lvls up in dungeon. Here's the funny thing, you have walk all the way back.

There's no waypoints too so you have to walk everywhere.

Someone mentioned to me that this game is better than torchlight. I can see that person was on crack,

I actually like it a lot. It's a loot-em-up! It appeals to the obsessive collector in me. ;)

For me, the action-rpg genre is if I am good at it and its not too difficult. Usually I play all my action-rpgs on console. I find it difficult to play most reflexive games on computer. Computer games for me are better for turnbased rpgs.

Oh and shooters are impossible for me on computer :(

The good thing is that usually all the really really good turnbased rpgs are all on computer. I cant find any on console or portable.

So it evens out that I am not good at mashing the mouse, but can finesse once in a while, haha

I agree that's the best option. However, I quite like it because it's the game's way of saying "Your character isn't really ready to handle this level yet so go back three levels to gain more experience and possibly pick up a better weapon or equipment". Also, another thing I find quite clever is that when you backtrack on earlier levels, you're more likely to come across magic anvils, gem statues or tables of learning - another tactic by the game to help you build up you character a bit.

Personally, I enjoy Fate for quick gaming sessions. More comprehensive ARPG games like Sacred 2 can also technically be played for short durations (especially if people realize that if they quick save with the <F7> key they can then quit the game and when they return to it, they'll resume the game from the same spot they were at when they pressed <F7>, instead of starting back at the last resurrection shrine they activated), but I find I have to play Sacred 2 for a longer period to feel like I'm making any progression, whereas, as you've experienced with Fate, you level up a lot more quickly.

No the exact opposite. Playing shooter on a console is harder than winning olympics. How can you do that?

I don't know how most games are played on a console, minus platformers. People who can play Tomb Raider with a gamepad posses talent I could only dream of. :P

It is what you are used to. When Doom, Duke 3D, Wolf 3D came out it was just turn and shoot which you could do on a console with a pad. 1st time I ever played an FPS that required looking around and actual aiming it took me a while to adjust. Now I don't know how I ever played them another way.
