tinyE: I don't know how most games are played on a console, minus platformers. People who can play Tomb Raider with a gamepad posses talent I could only dream of. :P

It is what you are used to. When Doom, Duke 3D, Wolf 3D came out it was just turn and shoot which you could do on a console with a pad. 1st time I ever played an FPS that required looking around and actual aiming it took me a while to adjust. Now I don't know how I ever played them another way.
There are people out there who still play Doom with the original control scheme. I just can't fathom how that's even possible - I know I did it once upon a time but I gave it a try a couple months ago and it just left me flailing aimlessly, totally unable to progress. Just goes to show, it really is just about what you're used to.
I got the Fate trilogy in a bargain bin and then bought Torchlight and never touched them again. Because Torchlight is superior in EVERY way/

Doom still sucks. Doom the RPG for IPhone is where its at. I dont know why anyone would to play that old game. Its below 1998, lol.

I still enjoy the Doom games. I think the appeal is their simplicity. And you get a lot of levels and replayability for the money.

With respect to the first Doom game, I enjoyed the shareware levels more than the full retail game though, and have replayed those the most. Same with Heretic. Maybe I just like simple games with normal looking levels and straight-forward weapons.

And Final Doom was OK, though I really hated the final boss wall-thing level. You talk about Fate ramping up the difficulty, but those last Final Doom levels ramped up the difficulty exponentially.

However, I've still got to play Doom II. I've been saving it for a rainy day. Maybe today is that day!

grinninglich: No the exact opposite. Playing shooter on a console is harder than winning olympics. How can you do that?
Can't say that I agree but competitive multiplayer on console is certainly the equivalent of paralympics.

deathknight1728: I am level 13 and am taking on enemies of lvl 20 and around there. I am on floor 27 where Kaos is supposed to be. Enemies are easy because I got a really cool build and upgraded stuff.

It doesn't seem like kaos is anywhere. There's no main quest and I think that the only main quests are in expansion packs.

Has anyone else failed this?
Are you absolutely sure? Having beaten Fate several times, I can assure you, the End Boss is there (and he's rather hard to miss too). Perhaps there's a part of the map you haven't fully searched yet.

deathknight1728: Someone mentioned to me that this game is better than torchlight. I can see that person was on crack,
I wouldn't necessarily say that it's better than Torchlight; TL is more like the spiritual sequel to Fate (since TL's core developers started with Fate). Fate is the kind of game you'd only play if you thoroughly finished TL and TL2 and craved more of those games' style of play.
My trilogy just got here and I love it. They stick you in a room with access to all the chapters in any order you want along with some cool bonus adventures. On top of that you get to use all the cool stuff added to the expansions (characters/pets/weapons) in all of the chapters. I wish I could change the angle but other than that I dig it. Guess I'm a simpleton. :D

To be fair I liked Fate, but I went back to lvl 23 of Grove's dungeon and then back to Lvl27. There was nothing there. What this tells me is that the developers didnt do a good enough job with making the game. They are useless...

I did a search and a few people were asking the same question I asked.

It could have been an alright game if they finished and polished it. But they didnt and because of that just another wasted abortion diablo clone with much much promise.
