I've been searching for something like this for a while. I do like the first impression of VGCollect and Darkadia but I'm not sure which is better. Any differences from experiences?

One thing I dislike on Darkadia is that I can't mark a game as having a Linux version. This is not a fault of Darkadia by the way, but of Giant Bomb, where it was decided that both Windows and Linux are "PC". I don't have the words to express how stupid this decision is (in a nice way, that is, and I don't want to curse too much).

By the way, I'm thinking of using Soda db for my game catalogue, or some other online database. I entered quite a few games on Darkadia, but I find it much easier to look at my old game spreadsheet, so something just a bit more formalised might be good.

I used backloggery, but recently switched to Darkadia. Still in the process of adding games.

Could you please explain why? I'm curious :)

D: Craziness! I actually haven't used Steam in a while, but Serious Sam 2 was only 3 bucks on Amazon, so I got it and had to activate it on Steam.

I like the shelf on Darkadia.
I like that their database is linked with Giant Bomb. It's easier to add games and not add duplicates. You get a nice cover art for the games, description and information about the game. If a game is missing something you can always add it yourself on Giant Bomb. Heroes Chronicles: Clash of the Dragons was missing an image so I added one. Took about a day for the change to be approved and be reflected on Darkadia.
So far there are only 3 or 4 games I own that I wasn't able to find. I could always get off my lazy ass and add them.

Thank you for your answer :) Now I have an alternative. But I'll stick with Backloggery, because it took me a very long to make a pedantic games library. Also I like Backloggery style and badges :)

I don't like that boxes on Darkadia's shelf have diffrent sizes. Is there any way to change it manually?
Also what about games with no-end (like sandboxes or mutliplayer) is there any null options?

Yeah, I'm not thrilled about the different sizes and no easy way to change it. I guess you could add a proper image on Giant Bomb and it may replace the small one. But I haven't tried.

The databases the video game template links to are quite lacking when it comes to newer indie games, and I guess there's no easy way to use other databases? I guess I'm already spoilt by Darkadia and the GiantBomb database ...

As mentioned above I've come to appreciate the GiantBomb database, but I'm not always happy with the genre tags it uses (e.g. tagging an Action-Adventure as "Action" and "Adventure", so that I get all kinds of "Adventures" - including FPS types - when I'm really just looking for Point-and-Click Adventures). And it's probably easier to change that for myself than trying to impose my ideas of categorizing on everyone else.

So if GiantBomb is used as a base, allowing quick additions to the collection, but Darkadia also offers the option to customize the entries, e.g. by sorting them into my own categories and additionally putting labels on them like "Freeware", "Indie" etc. (or even "Liked", "Disliked" etc. in addition to "Loved" vs. "Unloved"), that would be perfect.

Btw, are there any plans for an offline-version or the option to export your collection and save it to your harddisk for backup reasons?

The Giant Bomb covers are a bit of a mish-mash of different sizes, so it's very difficult to get them all displaying at the same size. You either have to crop parts off some of the covers or use black bars to fill the space for the smaller covers. A list view is in development that will be using uniformly square covers.

The very next release will add an extra toggle: 'shelved'. So then you can mark games as 'completed', or, the games that have no end can be marked as 'shelved' so they don't count against your pile of shame.
No plans for an offline version sadly, but there are plans to allow you to export your library data. Giant Bomb imposes some limits on how their data can be used, and I may run afoul of that if I let you export their data, but your Darkadia data and (at least) the GB game title will be in there.

Just registered on Arkadia and, adding all my games on the shelf, I noticed that it didn't suggest me LBA 1 or 2. How can I have them add these games in their database ? Or maybe I writing it wrong ?
