Zangtesu: You can download the previous version of gcstar from here:
http://download.cnet.com/GCstar/3000-2131_4-10626830.html Thanks! Apparantly it is quite easy to install, but I'm not sure yet if I like it. The databases the video game template links to are quite lacking when it comes to newer indie games, and I guess there's no easy way to use other databases? I guess I'm already spoilt by Darkadia and the GiantBomb database ...
Leroux: Drat. I guess I'll have to stick to Darkadia then and hope it will last and evolve quickly (can't wait for the introduction of custom sorting categories; I wish GOG had them, too).
beforeseven: It's in the works. Hope to have it out in a couple of weeks.
Cool! :)
As mentioned above I've come to appreciate the GiantBomb database, but I'm not always happy with the genre tags it uses (e.g. tagging an Action-Adventure as "Action" and "Adventure", so that I get all kinds of "Adventures" - including FPS types - when I'm really just looking for Point-and-Click Adventures). And it's probably easier to change that for myself than trying to impose my ideas of categorizing on everyone else.
So if GiantBomb is used as a base, allowing quick additions to the collection, but Darkadia also offers the option to customize the entries, e.g. by sorting them into my own categories and additionally putting labels on them like "Freeware", "Indie" etc. (or even "Liked", "Disliked" etc. in addition to "Loved" vs. "Unloved"), that would be perfect.
Btw, are there any plans for an offline-version or the option to export your collection and save it to your harddisk for backup reasons?
