jimmychippy: Hi tried to use GOG downloader to download Baldurs gate 2 and I have an icon in my toolbar (although it is grey in colour) and a green icon in my start menu.

However when I click on the GOG downloader a window comes up - in the RH bottom corner it just says connecting...
and in the LH bottom corner there is an orange light which says offline - but I am connected to the internet. Has been like this all day

There is a `settings' button and I have tried to play around with the options in it but no change. I have sent an e-mail to support but no answer since 10.00 today - can anyone else help? Just want to play Baldur's Gate 2!!
Most likely the GOG Downloader is blocked by your antivirus or firewall. If so, you must add the GOG Downloader to the exceptions list.
Hi all. A have a problem with GOG Downloader.

I tried to download Divinity 2 Russian version. Setup "part 2" was downloaded properly. But when the file "part 3" was off the Internet. After downloading the file you hit continued and file size was 1.3 GB instead communicates 2 GB. When I tried to delete the file from the download manager GOG. And put the download again, you start downloading the file from the beginning. This is very inconvenient, since I'm paying for your traffic. Please offer an alternative way for me to download, or modify your GOG Downloader. Because even free software Download Master can continue to download files, and your manager is unfortunately not.

Information:
1. 3.3.14 (stable)
2. Windows 7 x64
3. Russian
4. Downloader log contents - not access for post linked, WHY?
5. Read up post.

Firstly, please upload the contents of your log file into paste-bin like service. Secondly, you can turn GOG Downloader mode off by hitting button on game download page.

Non-English version of games are listed as patches (as you could notice). Unfortunately, resuming bonus content, patches is (still) non-available.

I checked your log, and it looks like a server-side issue. I will check it more deeply tomorrow, since I am not in office right now.

private_face: GOG downloader does not accept my login\password.
But same login\pass pair works when I'm trying to log in on the site.

- Downloader version 1.2 (331)
- MacOS 10.8.2 / English

Fallen_Zen: Close the Downloader. Remove ~/Library/Preferences/.plist file and try to log in. Let me know if that helped.
That didn't help.
Personally I'd like to see a "minimize" option on the downloader.

What about just "closing" the downloader? Its getting minimized into taskbar.

OH! I didn't even think of that; I was just assuming that closing it would make it stop downloading. Duh. Thank you.

eleve: Ok, let me try this again...on sending the last 2 tries, the forum software told me I was not allowed to post links :)

The newest version of the gog downloader has a crashing problem (MacPro3,1, OSX10.8.2, security/sandbox setting "allow Applications from anywhere").

The gog downloader starts up fine but as soon as any activity whatsoever happens (like clicking in the window), it crashes with unhandled exception and that error will be reported every few seconds after that (see pic).

Fallen_Zen: Strange thing I must say. I'll dig into it. So if you change it to "Mac App Store and identified developers" it is working? GOG Downloader isn't sandboxed, this is only required for Mac App Store apps.
Sorry, I only saw the msg just nowl

No, that setting doesn't change anything. The downloader won't work no matter what it is. I did mention it because a few days earlier I tested an application (not from the Mac app store either as I try and avoid that one if at all possible. I think Apple is far too arrogant atm to support them and their closed thinking even more than I do already) that only worked after I toggled the setting from "all from everywhere" to "Mac App store and identified Devs". After having done that and gotten the application to run that way, I could then switch back without problems. Unfortunstely, that app wasn't the GOG Downaloader :)

Fallen_Zen: On another note, do you have Voice Over turned on on your system?
Hmmm...I do that from time to tine but can't remember whether it was on or not at the time...moment, I check...

...nah...the downloader crashes with or without Voice Over activated though I do have the feeling it takes a bit longer until the crash with Voice Over de-activated. On a similar note, I do use a few of the other options in Accessibility due to hand problems, like Sticky Keys.

Try turning off all accessibility options when using the Downloader.
Hi,

I've just recently downloaded the new version of Downloader for Mac OSX (Version 1.2, 133) and every time when I try to log out, it gives me an "Unhandled Error" message, which prevents me from clicking the "OK" button when it asks me "Are you sure you want to log out?," thus preventing me from logging out from the Downloader. Basically, I can log into the Downloader just fine, but the error prevents me from logging out.

Is this an error caused when a game is currently downloading or is this a new bug?

I've also recently sent 2 messages to the Support team with 1 of them being my Error Log File on a Word Doc, and the other with the error in more detail.

Can you guys help fix this, please?

Thanks

Fallen_Zen: Try turning off all accessibility options when using the Downloader.
Ahhh...lol, ok, the problem is the setting "enable access for assistive devices". Any of the other options are fine. Unfortunately, that is a setting that people who do use it can't reset for any length of time...there were a few programs that complained loudly (read, with big dialog boxes) about me turning this off and eg. people who use assistive devices (I only use it for reprogramming the Touchpad and to use the iPhone as a controller) can't operate their system at all without it being set.

You should be able to reproduce this quite quickly. Run the downloader, open system preferences->accessibility, turn on "enable access for assistive devices" and click on the downloader window. Oh my system that's a 100% crash within a few seconds.

It's already been fixed in an internal build and will be pushed with next update. Until now I can only suggest disabling it :/

Sorry for the inconvenience and thank you for helping us nailing the issue.

I found GOG only recently. Thrilled but can't get the GOG downloader to do much of anything. Since I can't actually get it to run, I can't give you a version, but it's the one currently up (2/21/13). It seems to download OK, but when I try to run it, nothing happens. Running on Vista, using Firefox. Games are downloading OK with the Windows downloader, but all are over 1 GB, so a quicker way of downloading would be nice. I am loading things onto my D drive because that's where I've got the most space (and I've played Back to the Future, so the games are working OK coming from that drive). When just double-clicking on the icon didn't do anything (I get the final load screen with "launch" checked, and then nothing happens) I do get an option to extract a few files and I've even tried that, and still no luck. The screen did come up when I first logged in, but I was unclear what you were supposed to do other than go to the game download screen and turn the GOG loader "on." And that didn't do anything either. I would point out that your FAQ about this ap has a clickable link for problems that just takes you back to the download screen, which doesn't do much but tell you how great the GOG downloader is. Help?
