deadfolk: Thanks for the suggestions, but none of those things are my problem. I tried pointing to a different folder, just in case, but it made no difference. It happens instantly, as soon as I click a download link in my collection page. I've tried installers and bonuses, but no change.

Remove completely the GOG Downloader, install it again and try to download any game. As soon as an error appear, go to your log file and copy its contents here (or upload it to paste-bin like-service). Please copy the whole contents of log file.

That's what I already did. That's everything in the file. Nothing new appears when I try to download, just the on-screen error, and nothing in the log.

I'll do it again over the weekend, just to be sure.

Are you using any antivirus software or firewall which could block the gog downloader?
Ok, let me try this again...on sending the last 2 tries, the forum software told me I was not allowed to post links :)

The newest version of the gog downloader has a crashing problem (MacPro3,1, OSX10.8.2, security/sandbox setting "allow Applications from anywhere").

The gog downloader starts up fine but as soon as any activity whatsoever happens (like clicking in the window), it crashes with unhandled exception and that error will be reported every few seconds after that (see pic).

Only the built-in Windows Defender. But I don't think it's that - it was working until recently and nothing else has problems. Also, I noticed yesterday that the notifications in the Downloader work fine: the new message count, for example.

Update: It works in Internet Explorer - but not in Chrome, which I normally use. I am going to try resetting/reinstalling Chrome at a convenient time.

Okay - I did all that. The first time I launched the downloader after reinstalling, I got the error and the downloader terminated. At this time, no log file or c:\Users\...\AppData\Local\GOG.com was created. I launched it again, this time with no error, and the log file was created. I checked the download location and saved settings.
I clicked to download System Shock 2, and the error occured, but the downloader did not terminate. It also did not list the game.

OS: Windows 7, Polish.
Browser: FireFox
GoG downloader version: 3.3.14.0

When I click on a download link in my games library, I get a "file not found" page.
GOG downloader does not accept my login\password.
But same login\pass pair works when I'm trying to log in on the site.

- Downloader version 1.2 (331)
- MacOS 10.8.2 / English

Strange thing I must say. I'll dig into it. So if you change it to "Mac App Store and identified developers" it is working? GOG Downloader isn't sandboxed, this is only required for Mac App Store apps.

On another note, do you have Voice Over turned on on your system?

Close the Downloader. Remove ~/Library/Preferences/com.gog.downloader.plist file and try to log in. Let me know if that helped.

Downloader version: 3.3.14.0 (Stable)
OS: Windows 7 SP1 (United States English)
Downloader log: (I can't post the log here without posting a URL. The complete log is 100kb big, which is rather long for this post)

I'm trying to download The Witcher 2's Windows game installer using the downloader. There's two problems here - first, the website says the files would be 13GB big, yet the downloader reports that the files will be 14.99GB, which is almost 15GB big - a rather large discrepancy. Second, after the downloader says it reached 14.99GB / 14.99GB, it continued downloading. Opening up the folder in Explorer shows that the downloaded files only had a size of 14.1GB. It's still downloading now. I'll update this post if anything odd turns up after the whole thing has finished downloading.

I am seriously disappointed in the GoG down-loader.
I feel that this is going from bad to worse.
The old down-loader worked like a charm. Ever since the "new" down-loader is up, it's been nothing but nightmares.
Nothing I do, improves anything, and I have gone through bouts of removing/installing, posting logs etc, and it has gone even worse now.
Every single download of the program is failing with "Checksum error on chunk <random number>" messages.
So, everyone says, use the HTTP down-loader, which is dodgy as hell, and always aborts somewhere along the line, as I happen to be on shoddy lines here.
So the bottom line is currently, that nothing I do, is worth anything, as I cannot retrieve any games... I have not been able to download any of the games lately.
Would be nice if it actually worked. Like the old version. Even steam with all it's idiosyncrasies does cope in downloading games.
And NO, I am not going to try and re-download and re-install a million times, wasting my limited bandwidth, to just end up back at square one.
I think that GoG needs to seriously re-look the new down-loader versus the old one, and do something.
[/Rant off]

What internet connection have you got? Messsage "Checksum error on chunk <random number>" appears, when the downloader tried 10 times to download a chunk. It might be server side issue OR very poor network connection. Are you able to download games by my account panel?

Hi tried to use GOG downloader to download Baldurs gate 2 and I have an icon in my toolbar (although it is grey in colour) and a green icon in my start menu.

However when I click on the GOG downloader a window comes up - in the RH bottom corner it just says connecting...
and in the LH bottom corner there is an orange light which says offline - but I am connected to the internet. Has been like this all day

There is a `settings' button and I have tried to play around with the options in it but no change. I have sent an e-mail to support but no answer since 10.00 today - can anyone else help? Just want to play Baldur's Gate 2!!
