GOG downloader 3.0 stable told me I have a game update, I clicked on it and it opened my game library in my browser (which required I log in).
In the large picture mode it did not clearly indicate which game was updated, so I switched to list view and found out it was the witcher enhanced edition..

I started the download and it automatically created a subfolder called "the_witcher"
That's a rather sad looking name for a subfolder in my downloading directory, I personally labeled the folder "The Witcher Enhanced Edition (2008) [GOG]"

1. Would be great if you could specify folder naming rules with things like $Date for year of release and so on.
2. Would be great if one of those rules included disabling the linux friendly aspects of using only lower case letters and replacing space with _. For example:
$n = short name, linux style. "the_witcher"
$N = short name, windows style. "The Witcher"
$name = long name, linux style. "the_witcher_enhanced_edition
$Name = Long name, windows style. "The Witcher Enhanced Edition
$Name8 = Long name in UTF8 (unicode) which includes special characters such as colon or asian script or what have you. "The Witcher: Enhanced Edition" (it should be noted that trying to name something with : in windows will fail with an error message if it is done in ASCII, which is the default when typing it from a keyboard, but if you copy paste the unicode symbol in it will save the filename in unicode which will allow the file to contain such special characters, and will work with no issue)

don't know if anyone mentioned this yet: I tried to download a game (whispered world) with the download director pointed to the wrong drive. my C drive didn't have enough room on it so the downloader stopped the download, but now I have the game stuck on my queue and can't get it off even though I pointed the download location to me D drive (which is bigger).

trying to redownload the game didn't work, I'll try completely closing out the downloader and restarting in just a sec, but what it looks like for now is that the game is stuck in there without a "retry download" function to be found.

Remove the download from the queue (right click on it). Move the folder with incomplete files to the folder you wish to download games from GOG. Change the download folder in the app settings. Add the game again to the queue, should resume the download where it left off.
hi, i just downloaded the latest version and it doesnt work.

We'll be fixing that in the next update, unfortunately can't provide you with any dates. Changing the password is for now the best solution ;) Thanks!
When I run the latest stable version, I cannot view the actual Window. It remains minimized no matter how much I click it. With Aero Peek (Win 7 64 bit) I can view what it is downloading in a smaller fashion, but it never becomes the active window.

This is after restarting the pc and the program.

How do I resolve this?

I can't recall ever seeing the downloader minimized. It will either close to tray or be displayed. There is though the possibility that it is displayed so far off screen that it appears invisible. Try shift-right clicking it, and choosing move, then use the cursor keys to see if you can bring it back to the desktop. Alternatively, alt-space, move instead of shift-right clicking.

JMich, you are awesome! :D That worked! It was hiding off the bottom of the screen.

No worries, had it happen before with various programs. Enjoy your games, and hope you don't get any more reasons to post in this thread :)

rakkar: Is this thread also for suggestions? If so, I think some kind of "estimated time remaining" would be nice. And maybe also that neat Windows 7 integration so you can view your download progress in the taskbar.
I second this suggestion!
Nevermind, I found out how to download using the gog downloader. I thought it was automatic like steam

mystvearn: I just registered for gog.com and bought two games, GGX2#reload and Theme Hospital, but I cannot choose to use the gog downloader, instead I get a normal download. How do I use the gog downloaded to get the games instead?
Go to your My Account page and you should see a switch that says "GOG downloader" with a silver slider that should be, by default, turned OFF. If you click on that silver slider it will say ON with a green background. Try downloading something and your browser, if you use Chrome, will ask if you want to launch an external application. Click Yes, and the downloader should launch and start downloading your desired content.

Download and install the downloader from this page. Then when you get to your account page, you should have the option of turning the downloader on or off (see attached pictures). If it's set to on, you should be able to download through the downloader. There is a small chance that your browser may not correctly parse the downloader links, if that is the case, post which browser you are using and I'll try to find the link explaining how to correct it.
Welcome to the GOG.com forums, enjoy your stay.
Edit: Glad to see you sorted it out, will leave this post in case others encounter the same problem.
