Bloodygoodgames: Weirdly, though, I did just discover this today. On another download thru the GOG downloader, I connected thru my usual ISP and then activated a VPN I sometimes use, so that my IP address looks like it is in the UK. Immediately, my download speed more than doubled, from only 45KBs to 120KBs and it stayed like that all the time I was connected to the VPN. As soon as I disconnected, back to 42-45.

Any ideas??
Hmm, you can at least traceroute to edgecastcdn.net as well through VPN and normal connection to see what's the route and if any large delays occur.

1 item at a time being downloaded, I think they were looking into increasing it. You can try increasing your concurrent connections if your speed is not capped yet, but end result is that you will still get your X games in Y amount of time, no matter if you are downloading them all at once or one after the other.
Enjoy your new rig as well :P

You should be able to have a lot of items in your downloader as "queued" (or "preparing"), with the top one being "downloading". Only 1 item will be downloading at a time (at least for now, hopefully they'll increase it in the future), but that 1 item may have multiple connections to the GOG.com servers, effectively being downloaded from 1 to 15 times (Options->Concurrent Connections setting). Thus, if using 1 concurrent connection uses up 10% of your maximum speed, using 10 concurrent connections should use all of your bandwidth, thus increasing the speed with which you download compared to downloading from the web page.
Hope this is a bit clearer :)

The functionality to download many items at a time is planned. Nevertheless the Downloader will download everything on your queue automatically, just one at a time.

I may be having a similar problem on the stable release. The GOG downloader will not always open when I click on the download link on My Account page (sometimes I need to click the link many times, and either manually open or close the downloader before it will register the download). But I can never add more than one item at a time to the downloader (unless I am adding all extras at once). This has happened for the last three items I purchased in the past week or so. Windows 7 x64.

Have you tried pasting the link (like gogdownloader://fallout) from our website to the address bar on your browser and hitting Enter? Does this make any change?

Thank you for the reply. I will try this next time, and let you know if I continue to have any problems. Have a great weekend :)
don't know why but the downloader speed is much lower these days. it was ok days ago, around 500k/s or higher, but now it's around only 50k/s.
(never mind, I figured out why my downloader wasn't working: I had tried out the beta downloader earlier, but it wasn't working properly for me so I reverted back to normal one... and forgot to change my account "beta" status back to normal. My bad. Figured it out finally by inspecting the page source and seeing some "beta" CSS atributes there :) )

So uh, is it normal for the downloader to delete all the items in the queue, including already downloaded files, if you shut it down and restart it later?

I just lost about 1 GB of data from Wing Commander IV's download. :\

Edit: Wait, the queue was cleared, but the downloader resumed normally after I readded WC4.

Hello!

I bought my first games on GoG and try to use the GOG Downloader (Stable)
But the DL Rate does not raise over 3,50 kb/s in average.

Shortly i reached approx. 15 kb/s, but without the Downloader i get 50 - 200 kb/s
I thought the Downloader is several times faster?

How can i raise this rate as i wish to use the Downloader all the time?
Im on Win 7 and have set 10 connetctions at the "Settings"

Thanks for helping.

It is possible that your antivirus is messing up with the download. Take a look here and see if this helps.
Ui! Thanks a lot...it helped right away and speeding up to 1,55 MB/s

Yay! Thanks again :)
