Hey everyone. I'm 26 and since I was a purely console gamer until about 2000 or so, there's a lot of fantastic older PC games that I missed out on. I found this site a few months ago, and finally gave in and decided to join today.
I'm still mainly a console gamer, but I like a lot of PC games too, and there's a lot of older games on this site I'd love to try.
On consoles, my favorite genres are RPGs and 2D platformers, though I tend to like just about anything that's good other than sports games.
As far as PCs go, I enjoy FPSes (mainly Half-Life), RPGs (to this day Fallout 1 is still my favorite PC RPG), and Im starting to get into strategy games.
I'm really glad that this site, and services like the Virtual Console, XBLA, and PSN are helping to revive interest in older games, and offer an inexpensive alternative to all the $60 blockbuster that saturate the console market these days.
welcome
Herro!

Hey, I'm Jamie from The Great White North. Long time fan of many of these old games, still have many of them myself. I would really like to see some of the old Sierra catalogue, although I understand that could be hard wresting them from the grips of Vivendi Universal. Anyways play on and have fun eh!
Greetings everyone.
I'm Gerwin, hailing from the Netherlands and turning 26 soon. A friend recommended me this site after I mentioned that I'd like to some alternatives to steam. I'll admit that I have gotten rather psyched from this website!
Types of game that I like include adventure, action and roleplaying games. Though I've been known to catch a shooter every now and then too.
Hoping to float around and be a steady contributing member to this community... busy life permitting. :-)

I'm Peter from the Midwestern United States. I've been watching this site since someone aimed me at it before the beta started.
I'm very much a fan of a lot of older games - "They just don't make 'em like they used to" very much applies to computer games.
Welcome peeps! This forum is the best, we've got awesome discussions up the ying-yang.

No we don't.
Good day lassies and gents, my name is Federico and I'm from Argentina. I've come to the website due to the most appreciated suggestion of a friend and I'm liking everything so far (including my recent package purchase).
A sincere congratulations to the owners for putting together something that seems made of win and a big hello! to the community.

Hello people :)
My name is Sebastian, I'm 20 years old and I'm from germany. I love this website because you can buy your old favorite classic games for a low price, without DRM etc. and with all that nice bonus stuff :) It's really awesome.
The community seems to be great too, can't wait to get more active on here ;)

Oh, were are my manners! Starting to post without introducing myself!
Well, I'm SkyStrider, as you can probably see. Just another gamer from the olden days. I started gaming about the late eighties, with Space Quest and Starflight, been gaming ever since though mainly on PC since my family were never big on consoles (and I never liked gamepads). I am also a collector of games, so GOG is a useful way for me to enjoy my collection without spending all my time configuring emulators and endlessly tweaking all kinds of settings. Besides, gotta love the non-DRM policy, friendly atmosphere, and prices so cheap it doesn't really make sense to say no.
Some of my favourite developers (in no specific order):
Sierra On-Line (the original Williams's, of course, not the Vivendi publisher)
LucasArts (Monkey Island, yo! Too bad they are not really around anymore)
EA (ergh.. again not the one of recent times. They rocked back when they had Origin and Bullfrog on the team!)
Valve (After all the great releases recently, it is difficult not to like them, but I have some minor reservations)
Black Isle (Best CRPG's of all time)
...and a whole lot of others. :P
Not much more to say, really. Other than warn you about a terrible sense of humour. Well, I'll try to control it. Game On!
