Hello! I'm a 28 y.o. female, born and raised in Iowa, but recently moved to Texas. The first systems I can remember my family owning are the Atari and Intellivision, but I didn't really start gaming myself until the Nintendo came out. Parental disapproval was never an obstacle for my brother and me re: gaming. My mother always had fond memories of staying up all night playing Advanced Dungeons and Dragons with her sisters, and even my grandmother was an avid gamer!
Nor were we particularly sheltered in terms of content... the Nightmare on Elm Street and Friday the 13th movies gave me some pretty messed-up nighmares as a four-year-old, and let's just say that I didn't have to wait long after it came out before getting my hands on Phantasmagoria... Looking back, it seems rather odd, but I don't think the experiences did me any real harm. :-)
I'm a big fan of RPGs (both eastern and western), adventure games, 2D fighters, and to some extent, strategy and puzzle games, but I dabble in most genres. Dungeon Keeper is still one of my favorites, and probably always will be, along with Gabriel Knight (the first one, though I enjoyed all three), King's Quest VI, and, strangely, The Island of Dr. Brain. (Yes, it's edutainment. But it's FUN. And for some reason, I get a real charge out of the end credits... I've never seen a game do as good of a job in acknowledging the developers' work. Sounds boring, I know, but... it's not.)
...Anyways, I've already rambled on more than enough, so I'll leave it at that. :-)
