LazerHUN: 24. I'll be a good boy :)

Must....resist....jokes.
Say your jokes, don't hold it back :D
I'm from Ohio. The place where more pilots and astronauts are born, I'm guessing they just wanted to get out of Ohio. (not that I dislike Ohio)
I'm 17 and I have been playing games since 1992. (okay I was in my dad's lap and randomly pressing space but still.) I like older games, they are generally better made and not dumbed down.
So hello to the peoples of GoG.
Hey everybody. I'm 15 (16 in July) and from the wonderful state of Colorado. I've been a gamer for awhile and I just started getting into old games. I'm liking this site and I look forward to buying some new (old) games soon.
Welcome both of ya'll.
Hmm. Interestingly enough, I don't think I ever posted here.
Hi there, I'm RuneHamster. Yes. Because you can't read the name over there:

As far as a bit about me? Well, I started playing games at 9 or 10, hard to remember which, and my first collection was the LucasArts pack containing a Star Wars: Dark Forces demo, and the Rebel Assault games, with X-wing and Tie Fighter. I beat the tail off of all but the last, that game...well, let's say it was probably a mental block. I'm a white-hat.
I spent the next twelve years haunting bargain bins and discount racks, buying jewel case CD's for dollars on the...well, dollar, and pounding random keys until I found the correct controls. GOG is like coming home for me because not only am I seeing many games I used to want to purchase, but it is today's equivalent of perusing said bargain bins.
I have a terrible habit of playing a game only until I find it dull, then putting it away and rarely (if ever) touching it again. I'm trying to fix that by going back and playing all the games I've acquired over the years but never finished. The task is daunting yet enjoyable. My most recently completed game is Avencast.

Runehamster: Snippity

Welcome, hamsta.
God, I remember stalking this forum with a Herbert avatar.
Hi!
My internet name is OrangePylon. I've been playing video games since the early nineties (when I was, like, five). Up until ~2004 I was exclusively a console gamer, because I never really had access to what I thought were "gaming-capable" computers. However, when I started getting into PC games I went straight for the thrift shops, flea markets, and bargain bins for older and obscure stuff, and I love picking up five or six unique old games for the price of one newer generic shooter.
I appreciate the magnitude of time, effort, and money that goes into creating a game nowadays, but I think the soaring development costs are having a negative effect on the amount of experimenting developers can do. There were more risks taken in the older days of gaming, and as a result there are a lot of unique and interesting interactive experiences out there.
This is why I appreciate what GOG is doing: making these cool games more widely available in a way that's second-best to owning the original box (hell, in some ways, it's better). The lack of DRM and internet authentication means that I can keep playing my games even if GOG's servers get hit by a stray comet. I really appreciate that.
Someday I'd love to see GOG maybe expand to older console and legacy computer games, stuff that's very hard to get. But for right now, the fact that GOG has the games that it has now is a godsend to me, and I'll be buying from this site quite a bit in the near future.
Welcome!
(...and another bank account's jugular is seized by the happy grinning vampire of awesome that is GoG...)
31, from Germany, highly impressed about how good GOG represented so many great games.
Hello other good old gamers :)
I'm Pete, I'm from Norway, currently living in Melbourne, Australia doing my honours year of multimedia design. My first gaming experience was on my dad's old CGA 4-color computer where I played some golf game. Mainly you entered a number to select club, another number to set power, and you used the arrow keys to aim sideways. Oh, how awesome it was. I love new games and old games, but at the moment I'm into all the old games that I never played through properly, and GOG.com is an awesometasticallicious thing. The community seems friendly and down to earth too, which is great.
Oh, and I'm 25 years old and when I grow up I want to make cartoons for a living. Or games. Or both.
Cheers!
Hi I am Ryan From New York, I am currently studying Electronics and computer science at ITT Tech. I am 20yrs old and I have been playing games for many years. I also prefer the god old games :P and I started out with a SNES and games on my friends computer like doom, quake and crystal caves. oh and lets not forget Worms Armageddon.
24, Novi Sad, Serbia
Started PC gaming with Alley Cat and Prince of Persia, and console gaming with NES. Played most of what's worth playing ever since ;). Today I enjoy hacking old consoles and computers, while putting some small effort at finishing my studies :).
Cheers to all!
Howdy people, didn't see this thread at first. I'm Jazz from the UK, 29. Started gaming back on a Spectrum ZX (Jet Set Willy is one of my earliest memories, never got anywhere with it though) and went on from there, Atari ST throughout most of my childhood (boo Amiga!). Mainly played adventure games when growing up, but now mainly play RPGs and action-adventure games, though I do try alot of different games when they appeal to me. Got linked to here from a friend, and amazed not only at the old games I used to play but also how many I missed the first time around such as Psychonauts.
Anyway, toodles for now!
Edited to add more waffling in.

LazerHUN: Hi guys!
My internet name is Lazer, but my friends call me Vince in real life (but that's not my real name either, but you can call me Lazer or Vince, too :) ), I started my gaming career since 1998, because I borned in 1996, but I didn't play games then, I just watched my brother playing stuff like Duke Nukem 3D, Blood and other good old games. I play games since 1999, I like FPS games, RPGs and some RTS. Maybe you think, that I'm too young to love and play really old games, but I like old games, even if it's older than me :). I'm from Hungary, I live in a small town, and I think that's enough about me.

Hi there, fellow Hungarian! Welcome to GOG's fold.
My brother's birthday is on 22 September. He's going to be 22 this year, though.
