It *could* also be Darwinia and Multiwinia, though from the description given above, it looks like it could very well be the Hacker games.

It's Hacker Evolution. Guess I'll be sitting another one out.

Was Mobiloid any good? It looked a bit...unpolished to me, so I didn't really have any interest in it. But now, last minute, I wonder.

I've played a bit so far and it seems good. True to the Metroidvania formula, I've come across a few bits where I've gone "I wonder how I'm going to be able to get there? o.0"

Game is Hacker Evolution Duality (the third game), with the first two games as bonuses. Desura and Steam keys for the main game on offer, but no keys for the bonus games.

Already got it from gamersgate but I might be tempted by the other 2 previous games in the series if they're readable on a 10'' netbook (the texts in Uplink were too small to easily read for my taste even with a 800x600 resolution)
