1 day to go for angst !
I don't even bother on buying games on Steam anymore. They will either be in a bundle at some point or appear on GOG.

tinyE: I can relate.
No that's the Karate Kid being lazy.
my poor life choices consist of falling for bundles, Last time it was the interplay bundle, which had descent in it. I justified it because I would have paid 30+ for the descent series eventually.

Now the EA bundle I have no excuse for, There are WAY too many RPG's I can't possibly play them all. the only games I was mildly curious about were the dungeon keeper franchise but I really do suck at strategy games so why is my hand going for my wallet oh no stop no I don't need this... crap.

I console myself by saying I now have a decent backlog so if I ever get that itch I can get out a set of dice, and roll.

Falci: Hero Quest
Hey, I remember that one! Not sure how good it was, though.

But I loved Drageborgan back then. Really innovative design. And its door traps are still the worst gore I have seen in a board game:

Wow! My hand hurts just from the image. :P

Falci: I know this sounds like a stupid first world problem, but I'm feeling kind of frustrated, because I want to buy something, but can't justify buying anything right now.

Do you guys ever get this sort of feeling?
Not really... For me it is easier to resist buying games with DRM, logic tells me I should postpone buying them until I actually play them. Hence I haven't yet bought e.g. Skyrim Legendary Edition even though its sale price finally went under 10€, which I considered to be the limit I am ready to pay for it (with DRM). Yet, I still decided to postpone getting it, after all I am still playing Daggerfall. :)

With DRM-free games, I am more likely to buy something to the backlog with no idea when exactly I will play it. I feel it is a safer and more future-proof purchase, so if there is something I consider a good deal, why not?

Yet, even there I don't get the feeling that I just need to buy something, not that important what. I get the urge to buy something if I see something interesting at an agreeable price.

I'm now playing and enjoying Freespace, which I originally bought in the late 90s or so, and years ago from GOG. The last third mission ongoing now, hard to meet the secondary objective but I enjoy trying greatly.

Happy birthday, Falci.

Falci: I'm a telecommunications engineer by education and a software engineer by option. Though I wish I was a professional sci-fi/fantasy writer. :P
If you really want it, you should be able to achieve it. Personally I'd rather make my money programming and have writing as a hobby.

The hard thing is that I often find myself wishing I was putting ideas to the paper when I'm at work programming. :( And I rarely ever try to write when I'm at home.

EDIT: Thanks!

Happy birthday, Falci!

Sounds like you've got your plate full with other games, however, when I am stuck with that indecision, I sometimes find it helps to think if I would REGRET not getting anything during the sale. If so, then you may want to pick whichever you would not be happy you missed. Though... things that are on sale tend to eventually go back on sale later on.

So maybe you should try writing at home. The best tip I heard (which I never used, but I still think it's good) is to set a time each day to write, and keep to it even if you don't end up producing anything. Just think about writing and write during that time, even if it's just half an hour or 15 minutes.

Thanks! Yeah, you're right, I've never found myself regretting not making a purchase.

Though I once was grateful for getting Wolfenstein (2009) as an impulse buy, because it became unavailable shortly after.

Thinking about writing is the easy part, really. I do it quite often, often at inappropriate times. :P

Now that my desktop is available once again, I may be able to write more confortably from home. So I may end up doing it more often. We'll see.

I get that feeling all the time, usually I just take a hiatus from gaming and do something else. After doing something else and gaining a feeling of accomplishment usually the joy is restored to my older games. I suppose distance does in fact make the heart grow stronger, or whatever.
