just saw this article and got furious:

This is the hottest console on the market right now. But is it worth it?

… the New 3DS XL Majora’s Mask Limited edition, of course.

The device is nowhere to be found, was sold out within minutes on any site that had it, and bought by scalpers: people who buy an item just to resell them at a higher price point instantly, sometimes reselling a preordered item they haven’t received yet.
today you don't only have to live with shitty and greedy pubs/devs but also with scalpers!!! ... did i forget someone?

Scalping is such an a-hole practice. Side Show Collectibles Started running limited edition prints a couple of months back. Only runs of about 250 which is just enough that the second a pre-order goes up they all get gobbled up and listed on ebay for 3.5x their price long before the product actually exists.

It's important that people have the right resell stuff of value, but scalping is a blatantly exploitative practice. They are taking advantage of things people's desire, and feel passion about something, and try to prevent them from having any access to it unless they pony up. Basically trolls demanding money to cross bridges they didn't build. But then that probably describes 80% of how most businesses work, so.... what do you do?

Humble pirates do not understand what all the fuss is about. Eventually, after approximately one year, this is also going to be emulated, with bios files, possibly wi-fi support and all other goodies together.

Try that. No one to exploit you ever again. No richmaking a**holes anymore. Patience yields wonders.
