When I first saw the release my gut reaction was to throw it in the cart and run away with it. Then I started thinking about it. "What would my gf say?(because part of the money set aside for games pays for hers too)" "Look how many other games I could buy that I want to play instead of Arma II(I could buy like 4 or 5 games for the price of one GOG Arma II!)" "There's going to be a DayZ standalone soon." "I really like Arma, but Arma III is going to come out soon." "Why is it so fucking expensive?!?!(that extra 3.99 USD worth it to you GOG? huh?! huh?!! Is it?!)"

And the list goes on... -____-

I have to admit that my primary motivation for wanting this game at this particular point in time is the DayZ mod. If it wasn't for that I would gladly wishlist it and go on about my business until it was on promo for a better price. I know it goes for less at other *cough outlets. I really want to support GOG though,but I mean really... 24 USD?! Anyone else wrestling with this dilemma?

I say buy it. I never played it myself, but if it's better than the first one(and most people say it is) and given how many good mods there are for it, then it really is worth the 24$ .

Personally, I didn't buy it because I'd be paying $24 for a DRM-free game, for a single mod that I might not like because of the horrible people that play said mod (seriously, watch the videos...the community is terrible), that I can't play with my girlfriend because it requires a key that you only get one of to be put into an online account to play online.

Part of the reason I love GOG and its DRM-free games is that they're DRM-free. I can treat them like console games, in that I can share them with my girlfriend and we can play together.

EDIT: Some of them even come from the forbidden era of "hotseat modes". Seriously, what happened to sharing a gaming machine. Even games on consoles are moving away from the whole split-screen thing.

It's awesome that Serious Sam 3 supports 4 player split-screen even on PC. Or at least that's what I've read. Haven't had time to download it. If it doesn't, I'ma be pissed. :P

I say don't buy it (now).
See what changes the DayZ standalone brings and how expensive that one will be.
The price isn't going up and there will be sales along the way.
Unless of course you really want to play the ARMA2 singleplayer in which case you might as well get it now. Or if you have tons of friends playing it and you want to join them in their huge online battles.

Is Arma II seriously only worth it for the DayZ mod?

So if I wanted an ultra-realistic military shooter I should still pass Arma II? Would Arma I be just as good if not better?
(And of course I'm mainly interested in single-player.)

Don't Buy Arma 2 just for DayZ give realistic military simulators a chance we rarely get any since the market is full of arcady unrealistic military shooters :(

Well, it looks like I will have to wait until the winter sale because I'm gonna need two copies. Or we just wait for the DayZ standalone. I still would like to play Arma II singleplayer as well though...

She likes guns and stuff. She even had me buy her all the Quake games recently and she's into DOOM and Unreal too(She really like COD, me not so much). So, yeah. It wouldn't be fair for me to buy just one copy. I guess we could take turns though until the gaming budget allowed for the second copy to be bought...

In that case, I say wait until it's on sale and look at other options while it is. Painkiller, Serious Sam, etc.

There has got to be a way around this. I know there are peeps that are using just Arma II free and retail AO to play DayZ.
