Just a friendly warning, I'm sure if you are here you probably aren't buying everything on steam.

They just removed 49 games and DLC from my account with a generic "revoked due to processing payment issues" this is almost 2 months after I bought them on sale. Yes I checked my bank accounts there was no processing issues, they have issued refunds for some of the paypal transactions but still waiting to find out on the credit card ones.

Basically during the sale due to glitches i got an "unknown error" on my account which stopped me from using any payment sources. Eventually while I waited for steam support to get back (usually after the sale ends), I decided to create another account, buy the games and gift them to my main account, that worked fine. Which after hours of trying to trouble shoot my main account was a relief.

Now almost 2 months later they pull the games from my account without even trying to contact me first. I'm a large game owner on steam, basically what I can't get from GOG, stuff from humble bundles and also stuff I got as an additional backup when my server ran out of space to store all the GOG games.

I've had account glitches before with steam but never like this. Knowing how they work they won't help me with my latest support request that they reverse what they have done. They never do help.

Conversely GOG are generally very helpful, never removed a game I've purchased and watch and respond on the forums. If a game you want is available in both steam and GOG, go for GOG everytime.

Steam with their dominance in online game sales are too large and arrogant to actually care about the consumers. They have just ruined my day. I've not been this angry in a long time. if I have a heart attack or aneurysm you know who killed me. Damn you steam you murdering bastards. You killed my day.
Ouch...

But sometimes people can't see something until they get burned hard. Sorry man :(
I bought one last Sunday! :-o But that one was since a loooooong time since I do prefer GOG.com. But GOG doesn't have Valkyria Chronicles yet... :-P

That's the problem, you get tempted by the things you can't get here. I wanted so badly to reduce all the game discs and boxes cluttering my shelves and taking up space that the ones I couldn't get on GOG I got on steam so I could get rid of the physical versions. I got rid of the discs and now I've lost the games out of my account. Talk about doubly screwed.

Oh, they do. Fairly frequently in fact. Thing is, they get it fixed pretty fast; but it's a recurring glitch that has kept happening for as long as I've been here.

I've been lucky then, never had any real problems with GOG, found a corrupt download file or glitched music file here or there and they have fixed them pretty quick, even via the forums.

Steam on the other hand, with their template responses that ignore what you have stated just really irk me. I know it isn't easy with lots of demands to resolve incidents (I used to work in service desk) but steam really do feel like they are not there to help.
That's a shitty thing Steam did there. And a stupid one. They should have real people handling people's accounts, instead of drones.

I rarely buy on Steam anyway (or GOG), but thanks for the warning.

Yeah, I'm sorry to hear mate and I do hope you get them back at some point!! How did you know they pulled games from your account? You get some sort of mail?

Hmm not so good is it. I've been trying to convince a guy from work that pirating stuff isn't a great idea. If you like it you should pay for it. He is now using steam as an argument for pirating thanks to their latest stuff up with me.
Maybe it's due to the "gifting" aspect, didn't they introduce new gifting rules a month or so back?

From what I recall, it was trading rules, not gifting. You can buy and gift a game at any point, but to trade the game you need to wait a month or so. Basically so they won't have as many cases of trading then chargebacking an item.

I'll buy what I want, where I want.
It's good to have a choice.
Ok, I promise not to buy anything on Steam today.

(Actually it's been quite awhile I've bought any Steam key anywhere, besides occasionally getting some on HumbleBundles on the side.)

No, you won't. You have to earn that right.
