How about that upcoming shadowrun game?

deathknight1728: Its sad really because there are so many builds/characters to make for these games. I'd count tactics but I heard it was more of a party game. Hopefully something happens but I doubt it. Oh well, at least I got 2 fallouts to play :)
If you enjoy significant different build/character play possiblities, take a look at "Age of Decadence". While in a (parallel word) post-roman fantasy sujet, from my point of view AoD shares many good characteristics with the Fallout 1/2 games: interesting post-apocalyptic setup, hard choices and consequences, very diverse ways of playing it, (complex) character definition on game start, intense turn based combat and, overall , pretty old-school unforgiving hard. ;)

Recently reviewed and liked by the GOG staff and there is free demo available.

PS: vote for AoD on the GOG wishlist if you like the demo, please! :)

I too will recommend Wasteland 2. If you haven't seen it yet checkout this video from the developers. It came out a few months ago and shows a lot of how things will work in the game.

Try Fallout tactics as-well, It is more combat orientated than the other Fallouts but it is an under rated game imo.
Another vote for Arcanum, if You haven't played it already. The closest You'll probably get to the first two Fallout games.
Is the Quest any good? It looks like a Might and Magic 6 clone.

btw..you can play most party RPGs with only one character, its just a bit harder, or sometimes easier.
Definitely try Arcanum. Very steam-punky, but they did an awesome job capturing that "Fallout" feel.

While eschalon has better skills/builds you can make, the quest has a much better story and much better/more unique setting. It has a lot of things from fallout I like such as being able to solve things in different ways.

So far there are 3 ways of solving quests-

1- combat, simple but easy except for later on when you have to fight 5 dragons at once. From there its like fallout, find a better way to get through the situation.

2-Persuasiveness-This way is excellently good and is able to bypass through certain situations minimizing problems. You can do like Kotor and convince creatures/people that you are correct, force your argument and what not.

3-Lockpick/disarm skills-This way is the rogue way and can be done for warriors, thieves and mages. You can get through quests in different ways and is very fun.

There are multiple ways of completing each quest. I find that I like this game 5 times more than morrowind which says a lot.
These are very different RPGs you mentioned. So it's not clear what features you're most interested in.
I dont know, I like solo character rpgs because they are actually about that character who is extremely powerful. When I do play party based games I usually only play games where the members of the party are actually powerful by themselves and dont just rely on their teammates like fighters ALWAYS do with priests and what not.

Im currently playing Avernum 5 because its somewhat fun but I just dont know why but I always get bored with the setup as its always the same in every game.

1-The setup in Avernum, Temple of Elemental Evil, Knights of the Chalice, and almost any other turnbased rpg with isometric view is just the same tactics-Fighters/archers attack enemy, they get beat up, the priest heals them all. Thats all there is for tactics sadly. Thats not the only part as that is not the worst part. I can deal with this if the 2nd part doesnt exist.

2-This one is crucial for me and is usually the reason I rush through each of the Avernum games-There are gobs of health on each enemy to the point where one to 2 fighters have to basically slash at the damn monster/enemy 20-30 times. Im sorry but if the game requires you to do that, just to kill a major boss then that game SUCKS big time.
Hope you've played Arcanum, it's very similar.

And I agree with those saying New Vegas is a real Fallout 3. I guess if you absolutely cannot stand 3D first-person it won't work out for you, but other than that it's a perfect sequel really.

Sounds like you should really try Age of Decadence. Solo character isometric roundbased RPG with pretty non-standard character classes. :)
Is Age of Decadence fully out now?

no, but I had several hours fun getting into the game mechnaic, trying different builds and questlines with the demo already :)
Arcanum like multiple people in the topic mentioned it is basically like the first two fallouts in a Fantasy setting gong under a industrial revolution. Even some of the peope like Tim Cain who worked on Fallout worked on Arcanum as well.
