marcusmaximus: Arcanum like multiple people in the topic mentioned it is basically like the first two fallouts in a Fantasy setting gong under a industrial revolution. Even some of the peope like Tim Cain who worked on Fallout worked on Arcanum as well.
Yeah I played Arcanum a while back and completed it for a fighter/backstabbing thief. The game was fun but It was not that great. I thought that while fallout 1 was unforgiving, I could actually see myself completing it again. Arcanum is one of those games where for me its fun playing through once. But I don't think I'd ever play it again through the whole game.

Bigs: Even though it's still in Alpha - Under Rail feels to me as being similiar to the old school Fallouts
I bought this and am waiting for it to come out in mid 2013 :)

reaver894: Try Fallout tactics as-well, It is more combat orientated than the other Fallouts but it is an under rated game imo.
I want to play through this game melee. I just have to find a way/stat/skills that will work with a solo melee build. As its more modern, it can't be harder than fallout 1 going against the master with melee. Thats just suicide ;)

Licurg: This is probably a long-shot, but have you looked for mods for other games (NWN, etc.) that were inspired by Fallout ? I'd be shocked if you don't find at least a few dozen, and there's bound to be some good ones too.
I really wish that NWN regular and expansions would work on my pc. I tried getting it to work but it has crash dumps all the time in combat. None of the faqs/troubleshooting from gog work. I just figured the game was littered with bugs. I'll try NWN 1 on my next pc but that won't be for a long time. I tried finding it for mac but I don't know where to go for that and I am not bright with getting a emulator.

deathknight1728: Its sad really because there are so many builds/characters to make for these games. I'd count tactics but I heard it was more of a party game. Hopefully something happens but I doubt it. Oh well, at least I got 2 fallouts to play :)

shaddim: If you enjoy significant different build/character play possiblities, take a look at "Age of Decadence". While in a (parallel word) post-roman fantasy sujet, from my point of view AoD shares many good characteristics with the Fallout 1/2 games: interesting post-apocalyptic setup, hard choices and consequences, very diverse ways of playing it, (complex) character definition on game start, intense turn based combat and, overall , pretty old-school unforgiving hard. ;)

Recently reviewed and liked by the GOG staff and there is free demo available.

PS: vote for AoD on the GOG wishlist if you like the demo, please! :)
As a huge fan of Fallout 1/2 and Arcanum, AoD looks very appealing to me. I'm a turn-based combat guy myself, and although I enjoyed the improved graphics & animation & 3d style of Dragon Age, I just couldn't get into the real-time-with-pause combat. But this...THIS looks like my perfect blend of the combat I love with a more modern look. I've gotta try the demo.

Underrail, AOD, 9th Dawn and Eschalon book 3 are my hopeful games to be played in this or next year :)
