robb5: Yes I understand that but not sure how to put this: you will take the numbers from this topic or from the numbers of votes?
From this topic; I can't see who's voted.

Telika: And you're the first winner. Let me know what you want from the GOG catalogue. :)
I forgot it was a giveaway. For a minute, I thought Benjir was being sent in space.

Haha, I wish =)
But wow! I won!

Thank you very much nMillar!
I sent you a pm.

Gift sent.

And I'm changing the rules slightly; as I'm adding votes myself (100 in the last couple of hours), I've decided to adopt a different approach. Rather than pick a new winner for every 100 votes (which would get very expensive very quickly), I'm going to pick new winners as and when I have the spare cash available (more often than not this will be around payday each month).
Voted.
The juxtaposition of resorting to underhanded voting methods and wanting to show your daughter that dreams can come true seems kind of odd to me.

Yeah, that did occur to me too. Unfortunately, the organisers thought it would be great to do this as a popularity contest, and there's no way I'd get anywhere close without the underhanded methods.

If your goal is to get into to space, then that is your decision, but I think that makes it incompatible with the lesson you want to teach your daughter. It seems to me that if they are willing to spend loads of money to send someone into space, then it would make sense for them to keep their eyes open for the possibility of voter fraud.
1) They don't care who/how is selected. They just want someone. A popularity thing is a good way to have many contestants and make it viral, and show how cool their brand of whateveritis is.

2) Yes, the lesson aspect is a bit odd. "Look how, if you want it hard enough, you can be the one fulfilling your dream instead of the 35'075 other contestants who wanted it, uh, probably less". But is not incompatible with "see, if you wanted it enough, then you would have built a mafia network and fake websites and resorted to mass extorsion and strategic murders in order to achieve it".

Dunno about the OP, but I know that if my future son/daughter ever achieved anything comparable to going to space by using a combination of said methods I would be proud.
