Elmofongo: To see this whole series though, and the next game I will play is Ultima 5 which everybody says is WAAAY better than Ultima 4.

Also I dedicating 2013 to beating classic CRPGs, I already beaten Diablo 1 and 2, so now I decided to do Ultima.

aduken: Ah, i see. Thanks for taking the time to answer my question. While i admire your dedication, i personally draw the line on playing any particular game when i don't find it fun anymore. Of course, now that you have properly finished the game you can not only say that you didn't like it, but how much and why you found it so.
Which i guess is ... a good thing?

I guess that going through with your goal is definitely praiseworthy, but i can't but think that you should try to enjoy your free time as much as you can. (maybe despite all you said, you did manage to have fun, i hope?)

Of course, in the end, your time is yours alone, so don't think i'm trying to tell you what to do during it :p
Yeah I had free time, when I give up the first time I just went to play Diablos, Final Fantasy 4 and 6 which I have never beaten before until now, and I was plowing through Morrowind in its glorious Overhaul mod until my bro decided to buy the Mass Effect Trilogy on Steam.

So Now I went to Ultima again.

tinyE: This is only my opinion and in the grand scheme of things is worth less than a box full of dead rats at a tampon factory, but as someone who actually completed Dungeon Siege I have to confess I thought it was WAY too long and stopped being exciting or fun five or so hours in.

Lifthrasil: Yes, that's true. I also never finished Dungeon Siege. I just got it for Lazarus and boy was that worth it. The mod is WAY better than the base game.
No shit? Thanks for the tip, I'll try it. I really mean that. The game always depressed me because it looked so good and played so well but just got boring; a good mod may be just what the doctor ordered. You da man.

Dude, you haven't beaten Diablo 2. You don't beat the game until you finish it on Hell.

You expect me to go through hell mode, possible smashing my laptop in utter frustration :P

If you want to be one of the cool kids, you have to do it. Come on man, start a necro on summon, it's a piece of cake...

You're welcome. Let me know what you think of it when you have tried it.
Nice dedication. I gave up with Ultima 7 even though I managed to fix everything technical about Exult and all but ugh, I had lost interest after it took so long to make sure it would work as I wanted to it and it feels like rather overwhelming, I might pick it up later on. I'm not too interested in the rest of Ultimas though except for the first ones who are more dungeon crawlers, a little curious to see what they have to offer and the 8th due to its rather inquisitive magic system.
Holly shit, you real played that???
I still can't find a reason why people love that game. Yes, i finished it once but didn't enjoyed it. Like the OP said....virtues, after that i hated them with a passion. The only good think i could say about this game was the Ankh and the cloth map in the box.

If you're done with regular Diablo 2, you might want to check Diablo Median. I had many hours of fun with that overhaul.
Oh, and congratulations on beating Ultima IV. :)

I'm one of those who considers Diablo, Titan's quest and the likes... Hack & Slash Games rather then C-RPGs...

....Have not played it yet.....because I got scared by the D&D rule set along with the other Infinity engine RPGs.

As I said I dedicated this whole year to play GOG CRPGs and heck mabye now after putting all that dedication to Ultima 4, Neverwinter Nights might be a cake walk.
Congratulations! I'm actually considering playing Ultima IV myself, since it's available for free and I've always wanted to get into the Ultima series.

I was considering starting with the very first one (or maybe even Akalabeth, although that one isn't on GOG for some reason), but Ultima IV seems like the first game where they were trying to make a cohesive world and not just a random collection of various fantasy and sci-fi elements.

I started with Neverwinter Nights as my first D&D RPG and I highly recommend it. I would however read upon the mechanics because it's more fun to be prepared and then having to go back to the manual once or twice if you need to rather than starting to read about it when you get stuck.
