On one hand I really like a number of games THQ have made (including many in this bundle) but I can't feel too bad for them given that they're inclined to shaft the UK when it comes to regional pricing.

Still, I don't want to lose them so I hope this rather desperate measure pays off for them.

I know this is forum where people hate DRM, but this is just fucking insane! Even though we prefer DRM-free how many of us doesn't have Steam account? How many of us have DRM-d games from GamersGate?
I seriously can't believe that you are saying that it's ridiculous that this bundle is not cross-platform. Do you even have a clue how much it costs to port AAA game? While I do agree that they could've provided DRM free installers for some games, could you please explain me how exactly would you be able to get multiplayer features on steamworks game that's not registered on Steam? I'm not interested in MP is not valid answer. ;) Same goes for DLC-s.
Also people giving all to charity, as f-you to HB and THQ, you still took the key haven't you? THQ is in some deep trouble, PWYW model is not exactly preferred sales model of AAA developers. Oh and people wishing them to go under because of this should really get reality chevk, because it's always great when people lose jobs and you get less choice and developers close doors. And THQ does have some really great games. And by not giving them any money here you are working to make it happen. Seriously. WTF guys?

I do not see this happening at all. I do see that there may be other steam bundles coming from them, but I do not see a total shut-down of cross-platform and DRM free bundles. Same as they now have other types of bundles (Andriod bundles, game jams and so on). I have no problems with these things co-existing next to each other.

Do not forget that this is also NOT a indie bundle... When HiB 7 comes it will be business as usual.

We're talking about Humble Bundle and THQ here, not Judas and Pontius Pilate. Let's try to keep a little perspective.

Kristian: Sure it will, companies are already hesitant to sign up to GOG due to their DRM free stance, this will give them more ammo to refuse GOG. They will point to this bundle and say that even those guys, who otherwise also were "fanatical" about a DRM free stance, were willing to be "practical" and "reasonable" in order to sign up THQ.

So GOG will have an even harder time signing up developers and publishers. Which could mean games drying up on GOG, in the worst(and therefore most likely) case doing GOG in.
Nope, that ammo have been there all the time. It does not change a thing, which is why THQ is not here and most likely will not be, no matter what.

And the games will not dry up, you are taking this a little bit to seriously.

Sure there will be other HIB bundles, but I am also certain there are companies out there who prior to this may have hesitantly allowed Humbe Bundle to ship DRM free, cross platform versions of some of their games in a HIB who will NOT be doing that now. I am also sure there are companies out there which GOG may have been able to persuade to sign on here which will not do so now.

Companies like...who, exactly? The companies who're big on DRM are also big enough that they don't need Humble, and would not ever use Humble in the first place.

im actually wondering why thq couldnt or wouldnt make this bundle drm free?.
doubt it will affect GOG much although it might give a few devs second thoughts but there are heaps of games and heaps of devs out there. and heaps of classics gog could continue to add.

and then they loose the sale, but HB and GOG will sign someone else....

hkabik: I'm not convinced this is going to effect the overall mission of HiB at all. This is probably how THQ wanted it and it's fine by me, it get's HiB more exposure for sure which means more people buying bundles in the future which is good for anything.

Just because they are doing this THQ bundle doesn't mean they are back treading on what their ant-DRM stance... it just means they took this particular deal, not that it's going to effect all the future ones.

Until I see differently I'm assuming this is a win win, if anything I'm mad at THQ for not offering DRM free versions. Not HiB for making the bundle available.

Key words being: other established bundle types
Was already made clear by their response to the Ars Technica article (regular indie devs and big/ well known studios/ publishers = two separate approaches).

quite a lot of these games are Steamworks exclusive, and it will take a lot of resources to get them untangled (even if possible) which THQ at the moment do not have.

This! Also multiplayer and DLC-s. And I don't understand why do people fail to realise this before they start complaining.

I am actually a supporter of Steamworks, it is the ONLY form of DRM I will ever accept. But not in connection with a bundle where DRM free is one main selling points Given that I have a Linux laptop as well and that Humble Bundle has cross-platform support as one of its other major selling points(Look at how Linux users have consistently had the highest average donations) I CAN NOT and WILL NOT support this extreme betrayal. I have not yet decided about boycotting vs getting a bundle but giving 100% of the money to charity.
