While I don't specifically boycott Steam, I think the ratio of games I have on GOG (842 entries on the shelf, no idea how many store entries that makes) to games I have on Steam (53) speaks quite loudly regarding which platform I prefer. I mean, sure, GOG did get a head start, seeing how I created the account in November of 2008 whereas the Steam account was apparently created about 16 months later (unless the date is wrong for whatever reason), but by this point I'm not sure it matters all that much.

Never wasted a dime on Steam. Does that count as boycotting?
I don't. I was on steam before I found out about gog. However, if a game comes to gog that I already have on steam, and I like it well enough, I will buy it on gog. The idea that the games may some day disappear on steam doesn't sit well with me. For instance, when funds allow, I'll be buying Morrowind.

I love too many types of games to boycott. However, most of the hardcore DRM games I play on my xbox or ps3 (soon ps4) anyways. Can't afford a 'puter that can handle many of them.

oh and i'm totally using them for chat right now *cough* gog fix chat *cough* cough*
I try to avoid it as much as possible but unfortunatly I'm unable to do so completely because a lot of boxed version need Steam now and as much as I like old games I still want to be able to play new titles which aren't avaiable on gog.
I never buy anything directly from Steam though.

TheTome56: I used to be a big supporter of Steam

Until my account got stolen from me by another user due to a hole in their Password reset system that happened this July.

And here I am, five weeks later still waiting on some kind of response from their "customer support" to return the account I lost because of their inability to notice and fix an obvious password reset error.

Oh, and the Steam Community loves vitcim blaming. They seem to think the only reason you get hijacked is because you're a 12 year old kid who goes to phishing websites. That's apparently more plausible then actually admitting that Valve makes mistakes to that community of white knights.
Probably because getting phished is the main way people get their account hijacked on Steam.

As for that Password reset security 'hijack'? I assume that means you turned off your account security? (Steamguard). Because that's the only way they could've hijacked your account using that method, since there was no way for them to get to your email. The only thing that flaw allowed them to do was change the password, *if* they knew your account name (not profile name). Long as Steamguard was on that means they wouldn't have been able to log in without triggering Steamguard and so at worst you had to recover your own password after.

next month is the 5th anniversary of me trying Steam & my 2nd year being here. so the difference in my libraries
Steam: 1 (retail disc)
GOG: 264
I do not boycott Steam on account of it being pretty stupid to do so.
I stopped buying from and using Steam over a year ago after having to deal with their abysmal customer service.
NO MONEY FOR DRM! NEVER EVER!

Since Valve started their DRM with Half-Life 2 they didn't see one cent from me, and never will. I boycott all DRM-infected games.

I first need to care about steam in order use steam and at the moment I am lazy enough to not really care about steam much at all.

Not any more since it's more reliable than GOG by far. I still prefer Humble.

Really? From the perspective of games and support for games, I don't think Steam's any better. From other perspectives... well, yeah, there's room for improvement.
