Maybe add a comment something on the lines of:
"So you gifted a game, you can see if the correct person activated it and not some random dude who snatched the code somehow, by going...(I forgot where I'm supposed to go see that)"

Adzeth: I'd like to add that there's a universal GOG law that if you're being sneaky and not telling that you've hidden a gift code in your messages, only people who already have the game will notice and figure it out. :)
avatar
kavazovangel: It is already redeemed.
I was referring to how before I started telling that my giveaways were giveaways, and encoded 'em with what I call Stupid Code (if you hide something in plain view stupidly or among stupidity, no one will notice), it took a while for someone to take the codes. Funnily enough, and in accordance with the law I mentioned, I hadn't even noticed that the OP had a gift code in it. :)

So anyway, being too sneaky is tricky.
I'm just sayin', I'm only gifting if I my computer can't handle it. Just letting that one go loose.

In the my games section/tab, I think, under gifts.

Do not worry it was a redeemed code already. I did replace it with an undredeemed one, which I hoped would serve as a good example of how to use those links for newbs, but someone redeemed that one. =/ Might try again later.

Thanks for the suggestion, added with info from GameRager

+1 for you!

Good thread, ZPavelZ. I only wish this was around when I first began.

Well, I certainly do not consider myself experienced enough to advise others how to gift. Just that ksj8ak2 made an explicit request for this thread. And since no one knew any thread of this kind and no one was willing to make one, I had to do it. I tried to summarize whatever experience with gifting I have and also include feedback from everyone interested.
I'm curious: if I buy more than one game as a gift in one purchase will I get a code to give away for each item or do I just get one code for the entire transaction? I figured I'd finally start a monthly giveaway of my own here soon, so it'd be nice to have that cleared up before I start one.

You will get one code for all. But you can ask support for help if giveaway will be large one as they have power to divide one code of whole bundle into single ones for every game in it.

I see. Well, I guess it'd be easier if I just buy the games individually then as I'd probably be shooting for three at a time. Thanks for the info.
I have got an idea how to both keep this thread more lively (i.e. bumpy) and help fellow GOGers. I will try (and ecnourage others) to post here some of the information about current ongoing giveaways. I see people trying to advertise them all over the place to attract more attention/contestors.
If this idea is successful I will either request a thread renaming or create a special thread just for that.

I'm confused, you're looking to compile a list of ways to give away games?

You can google "gog.com stoicsentry," I've held several different kinds, don't have the time right now to make a list of 'em though.

Well you "could" call it a "list of ways to make giveaways". I would rather call it a simple FAQ for someone, who wants to make a giveaway and does not know how to do one - some ideas, some advices and so on. :) In the posts of the thread I just gather the recently running giveaways so that people could come to one place and find out what they can participate in atm.
