BoxOfSnoo: There's always Godwin's law, if that fails.
cogadh: Nope, that won't get anything locked, it just the discussion much more heated and lots of negative rep votes.
Whats about wi' that law? I only know Murphy's law until now?
An' what's about that mentioned thread about crack for games? Is that an internal joke? Personally I'd be more interested, what to do, if ya don't want to place a disc in your computer every time you want to play a game. As far as I understand, you should somehow copy the whole data of the disc, you should need to enter on your harddisc? For older games, which don't have very big codes not such a cruel thing?

kodeen: Godwin's law is that any discussion's usefulness is over whenever Hitler and/or the Nazis are used as a comparison for what you're talking about.
Seriousely? No kdding? I've never heard of that one. But I really hope, this is not a real topic in this forum. Living in Switzerland, this problem is still awkwardly present - and is an especial interest of mine - but in RL, not in games. So I'd rather prefer not to take up this trail in this forum.

It's a lot more complicated than simply copying content off a disk, you also need a modified executable that has the copy protection removed from it. Creating, distributing and in some cases even using a "cracked" executable like that is illegal in most countries. To avoid any problems, most responsible sites will restrict users' ability to post about such things since more often than not, the users won't get in trouble for it, the website will.
