Today we’re starting our holiday celebrations as promised with a 48 hour sale of The Witcher 2 for just $23.99--with The Witcher: Enhanced Edition for free! Celebrate the holidays by giving that special someone in your gaming life over a hundred hours of nonlinear mature RPG goodness, filled with intricate plots, beautiful visuals, and intense action, or pick it up for yourself if you haven’t yet.

This is the best price we’ve had on the Witcher franchise so far--and a better price than we’ll have on these two games when the holiday sale proper starts on Monday--so there’s never been a better time to get these awesome games from our sister company CD Projekt RED.

UPDATE: If you want to gift The Witcher 2 + the free Witcher: Enhanced Edition, be sure to add The Witcher 2 AND The Witcher: EE to your cart (The Witcher: EE will be for free then) after that check-out while selecting to gift this order.

If you’re not familiar with the Witcher games, here’s the skinny on them: you play as Geralt of Rivia, a monster slayer with superhuman abilities called a Witcher. In The Witcher: Enhanced Edition, you are suffering from amnesia and remember nothing of your past. Kaer Morhen, the last remaining keep of the witchers, was attacked by a mysterious organization, and though you and your allies fought off the invasion, the secret recipe for the mutagen, a substance required to create more of your kind, has been stolen. It is up to you and your friends to explore the mysteries of the world of The Witcher: Enhanced Edition and punish those responsible. Before long you will find yourself swept up in a giant cataclysm that will wrack the Kingdom of Temeria, upsetting everything in its wake.

The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings takes place several months after the first game in the series. Geralt became one of the central figures of political turmoil in the Kingdom of Temeria. Geralt continues to protect the king in the his mission to bring peace to the country. The last bastions of the Order of the Rose have yielded to the royal army and the only remaining task is to pacify the rebellious castle of Baroness La Valette. This will not be as easy at it may sound, however, and you will soon find yourself fighting for your life to protect everything that you hold dear.

This sale will be running from now until 10 December at 10:59 GMT, and then once that’s ended we’ll be starting our crazy blizzard of holiday bonus codes. If you haven’t picked up these award-winning RPGs yet, don’t wait any longer!

UPDATE: If you already have The Witcher 1: Enhanced Edition, please contact support to get a giftable code for The Witcher 1: Enhanced Edition when buying The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings in this promo.

Lexor: So... will we be able also to gift Empire Earth when it will be for free?
...why would you do this?
avatar
Barefoot_Monkey: I think you can buy the entire thing as a gift and redeem the code yourself to get Witcher 2, and then code will still be good for the first game because you already had it when you redeemed it the first time.

Can someone confirm this?

Firek: Confirmed. Not the most elegant way, but it works. Unfortunately we can't create mixed orders (part gift, part regular), so it's either this or just buying TW2 and contacting Support for a TW1 bonus code.
This is awesome, and it will probably pay off in the long term as people who get gifted Witcher 1 will fall in love with it and come back to buy Witcher 2 when it's full price. Win win :)

For friends who are not registered on gog yet to interest them.

I think GOG would prefer you tell them to register and get the game :) I would be happy to register to get a free game if I wasn't well and truly hooked on the GOG juice already.
Heh-heh... Got both of 'em ^_^
FRICKIN AWESOMENESS. :D Just bought it! ^_^
Payment, Y U NO COME?

Even though my sorry excuse of a PC won't be able to run TW2, I have to buy it anyways - for this price it is a steal and TW1 gift code as an extra......let's hope my money arrive on time.

Somebody could gift a dozen to oneself then use them as a black market trade currency :) "OK, lad, this will cost you 2 Empire Earths and a dozen bundles"

And what would they do with their gift code then? It's basically the same as telling them to open an account and get the free games. Then they can download the games and forget about the account for all you care.

Oh, I get it. When the promo ends, that would be a somewhat valuable trade commodity for anyone registering later on.

That seems a simpler solution, yes. I don't believe we'll have EE:GE as a giftable game.

You're saying in a post-apocalyptic future, copies of Empire Earth: Gold Edition will be accepted as the only legal tender? That makes sense, though. Since they have gold in them.

Man, I'd better stock up. :P

@deonast: you still need to register to get the game so I can not see the difference
@TheEnigmaticT: EE will be free for two days only and before Christmas not everyone has enough free time or is reachable to sit together and talk just about games :)
avatar
timppu: Not to mention those of us who already have both games. What's the incentive for us to buy the promo, huh?
avatar
Firek: Gifting someone both games for cheap? ;) If you're interested, just make sure you've got both games in your cart - TW1 will be free in that order, and TW2 will be available at the promo's regular discount.
avatar
Flippyplip: If only they allow me to gift the extra copy of "the witcher 1"
avatar
Firek: It's doable. Check out the updates in the news article, or my earlier posts.
Thanks! I love you guys. GOG ftw!

Although being digital those Empire Earth's could be copied leading to a devaluation of said legal tender, might have to introduce some DRM to protect the currency :)
that makes up for yesterdays "gem" IMO. if folk havent got it please do. hell the witcher 1 is worth near that alone in my eyes.
Great deal but who in their right mind doesn't have these masterpieces yet? All the smart people have them. Just kidding ;) Everybody who has been on the fence or low on cash: buy it: 2 amazing games that will last you for months.
