Because the new chat system shouldn't have been implemented without chat bans in the first place.

edit: Also, because I wanted to talk to a non-Friend about this awesome game I've been playing. Blocking messages from all but Friends to prevent Chat abuse means I have to force people to add me as a Friend when I want to talk to them. This is an atrocious design of a social system.

There is no context, or rather, it's probably archived. Back in 2013, fr33kSh0w2012 posted on the forum how h̶e̶ it was abusing its mother and sister, and I wrote what I thought about it (hint: it wasn't exactly praise). The Enigmatic T requested to cease the exchange (which I had no intention to continue in any shape or form anyway), it PM'ed me and was duly blocked and forgotten. Fast forward to 2015 and the new chat system which doesn't (yet) have blocklists.

Wow! That's pretty epic for a grudge on a forum. Thanks for showing the context, it really does shed a more serious light on this.

I agree that there should be a possibility to block messages from people you don't want to have contact with. It worked well with the old PM system and I don't see any reason why they left out this feature in the new chat system.

So is the thread still somewhere?
