Hey guys, I know there are a lot of collectors of various things here, so I figure I'd give this a shot.

I was at my local grocery store just now when I saw these big patriotic G.I. Joe Knockoff action figures. There was 3 of them, the main one was in a bigger package than the other two and I belive included a rifle/machine gun and maybe a sleeping bag etc. hence having a higher price and larger box. The character's name was actually John "?something?" Smith. One of the other characters named Jack came with a Bow & Arrow.

Anyone have an idea of what these action figures are? I tried Googling and looking on ebay and found nothing.

It wasn't John "Hannibal" Smith of the A-Team was it?

Nope. I don't believe these were licenced characters in any way.
They were BIG action figures, like the old G.I. Joes, nearly the size of Barbie Dolls. But, detailed fairly well, at least for unknown toys.
Wouldn't it be quicker to go back to store and have another look?:-)
Maybe the Action Man series from UK?! Those were basically G.I.Joe, but adapted to the european market with a different story, names and so on.

I haven't gone back to the store yet, haven't had a chance to. But I will, and I'll get pictures of them.

You'll go back but the store will be gone, you'll talk to an old man who will say
"Oh yes, there USED to be a shop on this empty lot but it burned down back in '82"
Spooky!

When I was a kid there was a semi nice knock off of the original Joe doll that sounds like what you're describing, but that was 25 years ago. They sold them at WallGreens.

Thus he freaks out and goes insane.
Eventually it turns out he was on the wrong block.
Sounds like you're talking about the Special Forces dolls, you can find them in grocery stores, Big Lots, Dollar Generals, and those kind of places. I'm not sure if they're named or not (it's been a while since I've seen one, much less picked one up and looked) but they;re about the size of Barbie dolls, and come in different types (a sniper, a bow and arrow guy, a heavy gunner, etc).
