Wow. That sucks. The guy is very polite yet offensive answers keep coming. Also developer(or representive from the company) is stubborn as a goat. Man keeps telling he lived awful things with Steam yet developer suggest that to buy their games on Steam. And not thinking about other distribution for now? Steam is helping us a lot? What? What is Steam doing to you? Doing your laundry and dishwashes?

Are you giving a good amount beforehand money to sell your game on GOG.com or Gamersgate? Why you can't be on Steam and GOG and Gamersgate at the same time?
"We are testing first, swimming in safe waters first". This is not a scientific experiment this is sales. The more place you are the more unit you sell.

Maybe the only logical reason could be that they made an exclusive deal with Steam.

Some fool named wretchx even say something bullshit like this:

"...But first, you threatened, in a respectful manner, to not pay full price for the Ys games unless they were sold without DRM."

Like he have to buy the game for a full price. Like it is a "must". Like it is a "must" to buy the game. Like discounts is a crime that Hectan causes and if he buy on discount it is criminal activity. He is the bad guy. He is threatining the company for "not buying with full price."

Funny.

I've been in contact with the same company, and I got a response from them only a few days ago. They said that they would like to publish on stores other than Steam, including GOG, as soon as they can. I think what's going on is, they are entitled to distribute the translation of the game, but they may have limited 'rights' about where to distribute it. They may need permission from the original developer/publisher, especially since GOG makes things a little 'complicated' by being DRM-free, and maybe more importantly, by having worldwide distribution for the same price. And apparently, that takes time.

adambiser: That's awesome. Who was it that you contacted? A few other people and I have been trying to track down the source code for the the games leading to Wolf3D and its derivatives.

Never mind, I see it. I've been in contact with Richard Mandel, too. I did not know he had rights to the source code of the game... interesting.
I only discovered because the information about the source code was in the kickstarter page: http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1803047198/porting-the-catacomb-series-to-iphone, then I decided to try my luck contacting him because I always wanted to play the full trilogy

It's good news that they will come to GOG. I'm glad he gave you such a positive response.
We had been trying to get a hold of the Blake Stone source with Jim Row and indirectly with Mike Maynard, but sadly, it seems the Blake Stone source might be lost due to bit rot. They tried to extract the Catacomb Abyss source and didn't have any luck with that, either.

Thanks again for posting this news and the kickstarter info!
I noticed this reply to one of Barry Woodward's tweets from Nicalis about getting Cave Story+ and Night Sky on GOG:

"@Barry_Woodward We'd be on their service if they could match everyone's standard 70/30 rev share. "

That is extremely interesting. Sheds a whole new light on some of the "we couldn't agree on pricing issues".

I'm tempted to get a hold of Konami to suggest for them to put the Silent Hill games up for sale on GOG, but finding the email address for the American portion of the company isn't as easy as you think. I'd probably suggest that try to release a PC port of Silent Hill Downpour since the PS3 version seems kind of unstable while I was at it, if I could get a hold of them.
I tweeted 2K Games:

@2KGames Do you have any plans to release your games on GOG.com?

They responded:

@Barry_Woodward No plans at this time, but we're always looking for new platforms to get our games on.
@Barry_Woodward Thanks for the feedback!

I asked Sigma Team about them bringing Alien Shooter 2: Conscription, Zombie Shooter 1-2, and I Am Weapon to GOG, and they said that GOG refused. I wonder why since we already have Alien Shooter 1-2 here. Probably price, since Sigma Team is selling Zombie Shooter 2 and I Am Weapon for 20 bucks each on their site (though Zombie Shooter 1-2 are now $3 each at GetGames' sale).

Bare with me first timer.. I believe most of us would like to see more supporters of where we feel good about looking for new / old games to add to our collections.. Steam, Origin, Direct2drive, Gamers gate, Green man gaming, GoG, Desura, Amazon the list goes on but that is what we want. I am learning more and more about how this works while I support and promote more game development like kickstarter is. I personally am involved with Castle Story book and Edge of Space A few I wont mention yet but its contact, discussions, research for gamer's who want selectivity. It can be almost as fun as playing some games by getting involved in their development, there certainly are many groups do just that like inside this Forum they have their's. On that note I will ask you to come join Edge of Space we have a live stream every Sunday 9:30pm Est twitch.tv/edgeofspace forums & IRC chats Keep passing the word Keep posting in Forums Tell the company's how you want see the selections grow as so do we an our tasts. :)
