Since our announcement on Thursday, GOG has been seeing an incredible and enthusiastic response from members of the community, gamers on the Internet, and blogs and press outlets everywhere. Thanks so much for your interest and support, and thanks for all your (many, many!) preorders. We thought we'd gather up a list here of the blogs where we've seen the news of our release posted, and also ask you guys if you know of anywhere that we've shown up that we missed.

It's always good to see more people talking about GOG and bringing new gamers to our site, since that lets us bring more classic games to you. By the way, if you haven't preordered The Witcher 2 yet, go on and do so now. It's free to preorder!

I really hope to see the first Witcher here at GOG.
Hi everyone,

below you find my favourite source for response on the nice Witcher-2-move of our beloved gog/cdp-team:

Have fun!
Btw: No offense, but I will stick to the retail version. I like real boxes. Hope this one will be as DRM-free as the gog-offer.
Thanks, all you guys, for passing your links along. And thanks as well to everybody who helped spread the word by sharing links or writing blog posts. You guys rock!

coldtony: Something of a mixed response over on Slashdot regarding plans to "fine" people who torrent it:

Witcher 2 is the only game I've pre-ordered in ages. The original was THAT good. But I really hate this sort of heavy-handed threat, particularly in light of all the problems there have been with people having their information revealed and at least one group of lawyers admitting they knew there would be false positives when they sent out their letters demanding payment. You gotta do what you gotta do but it'll not make you any friends.
I preordered, I was all hyped up about GOG and CD Projeckt... before reading this.
So you intend to go the way of the MPAA and RIAA then, abusing the legal system and extorting money from people? Suing grandpas, college kids and moms? For me this form of "Legal DRM" is just as bad as the technical one, if not worse. Forget me and my friends as customers if you're gonna go that way. In the software world even friggin Microsoft doesn't go after filesharers, unless they're actually selling counterfeit copies.

If you're gonna make digital goods, you have the advantage that millions of copies cost you nothing, but you're relying on the good will of people to give you money. The alternative is setting up an unacceptable police state. Communicating digitally is now pretty much as easy as speech, so what you're doing now is essentially singing aloud on the street and then sending the lawyers after all those who listened and didn't give you money.

Here's a thought: Maybe GOG cannot sell The Witcher 1 for $9.99 or less. However, we don't want them to sell games for more than that. (Sorry GOG, but that's why I dislike your Witcher 2 promo.) However, as Amazon has sold The Witcher 1 for around $6 FOR A SHORT PERIOD, why can't GOG do a special promo for The Witcher 1. Sell it for $5.99 for a week, giving all the GOG-fans a chance to buy it, and then withdraw it until they can permanently sell it for $9.99 (or $5.99). That way everyone wins!

Let's not jump to conclusions that quickly. CD Projekt for years has been building good reputation of a company keeping the side of the gamers. They know being too heavy-handed would ruin this image. On the other hand they must not appear defenseless against the piracy. I see their recent announcement more as means to assure their investors and shareholders that they are not totally crazy offering the first AAA title on the market without DRM.
Cheer up!

nice to hear the team is getting new people

now all that's left is to hire some more people for tech/game support which a lot of people have been complaining about here

And someone to clean that damn wishlist which is filled with trash and so many useless entries like "What this list needs is the guy from Taxi Driver to stand up against the scum, the filth and the dogs"

Aaaah, fresh meat.
@Roman5 The wishlist is on our calendar for things to address in 2011. We'll get it fixed, don't worry. We're also working on staffing at this very moment so that 2011 will be better than ever.

@Rondel: Indeed! The new guy here, and the only American in the office. Fortunately for me, everyone here at GOG speaks English excellently, which makes up for the fact that I only know about 30 words of Polish.

I plan to buy the Witcher through gog if I don't get the boxed CE version.

However it'd REALLY be nice if we could get all of the "pre order" things in one package, I mean I normally don't care about extra fluff things from "pre orders" that have no actual impact on gameplay.

However finishing moves and outfits that affect your stats enough to be considered some of the best in game?

I really feel like it's being "cut out" of the game rather then something made "Extra" for a store or such.

It'd just be really nice if there was a way for people to get all of these things in one deluxe version of the game rather then to have to pre order it from a ton of different stores which for most people is simply not possible because of the cost involved.
