Since our announcement on Thursday, GOG has been seeing an incredible and enthusiastic response from members of the community, gamers on the Internet, and blogs and press outlets everywhere. Thanks so much for your interest and support, and thanks for all your (many, many!) preorders. We thought we'd gather up a list here of the blogs where we've seen the news of our release posted, and also ask you guys if you know of anywhere that we've shown up that we missed.

It's always good to see more people talking about GOG and bringing new gamers to our site, since that lets us bring more classic games to you. By the way, if you haven't preordered The Witcher 2 yet, go on and do so now. It's free to preorder!

Seems like only people on GOG like to complain about a digital game being the same price as a disk. Steam folks don't do that. ;)

Besides that, though, I'm totally glad to give my preorder to GOG and CD Projekt Red. The Witcher was probably my favorite game... maybe ever, and GOG is the only site on the web with a determined stance against DRM - that's two huge good reasons.

Now I have to wait 6 months for the game... *argh*
Don't know if this has been posted here yet, but it's mentioned at: http://www.rpgwatch.com/# in its Nov. 18th news.
To those of you who might be unfamiliar with this site, RPGwatch is an excellent place for RPG news...
Great publicity! Though it seems rather strange that several publications used the opportunity to mock GOG for their marketing stunt. Wasn't that a while ago?
Great response? Great. ;)

Last time i see a disk was the retail pack of Half Life 2, as any local retail in y country, a pastic dvd box no manual or anything. Only import us retail (wich cost 3 times us price) has the complete pack, so digital download is not problem to me. Anyway, i usually buy only at sales, so... (this is my firs exeption, and just to sopport AAA DRM Free game)

100% Agree, the DRM GOG was the only thing that could posibly take me away from Steam (i still consider it a great service, anyway, but DRM FREE tops that)

Why? What have you got against inane ranting? Next you'll be saying you don't like to bathe in the bile of NMA.
Preordered!
I pity the poor saps who buy it on Steam and pay the same (or more!!) and get so much less . . . fortunately, it seems that every friggin' gaming site is spreading the good news, so if someone makes that mistake, it's kinda their fault for only listening to the salesman who stands to profit.

CD Projekt continues to rock hard.

And if this takes off as it seems to be, I wonder if more companies will see the light and try following this example with one of their own releases? Once this is out, no one will be able to say this business model only works for old games. :-) :-) :-D
Bah I'd still love to pre-order but I already own all the RPG games you get for free and $50 is still too much for me to pay for a digital version. If special edition had come with a Gerald statue instead of a bust, I'd have bought that for sure! The bust just wouldn't fit anywhere in my home.
One more hungarian gamer site's news about this: Gamestar

As I said in the other topic, this is a very clever way to get publicity and advertise this site. Great work!

I would really love to see a final number for the pre-orders, but GOG nearly never provides any statistics of their operation...

Wow, yeah. That's exactly what I was going to say next.

I think you get something else if you own those games and the price is mor 45 than 50 (if you count the 16 $ coupon). Not a big difference, but this way, it's cheaper than the simple retail version here in Hungary. (Of course, Hungarian game retailers are known for their short-sightedness when it comes to pricing, sales or more or less anything...)

As I already said in another topic, the one game I don't own on GOG I already have two physical copies and one digital copy of so it's not a great deal for me. With the $6 value of that game lost, I look towards paying $6-7 more, still, than a physical copy. My dilemma is that I don't want to encourage retail stores and the little profits that go towards those that really deserve it.

Perhaps :) Some folks just never seem to get the message that the $50 they plopped down on the counter WASN'T for the media.

NOW - if they would just offer the original here too. I would still consider getting it for $19.99 for the mere benefit of having no DRM to deal with.

These days I will go out of my way to NOT encourage retail stores. Pretty much every trip into a brick and mortar shop these days irritates me about something. Could be the snotty service or the annoying person in front of me at the cash register but I honestly prefer to do most of my shopping online now. Its fast, easy, and I get all that time back for enjoying my game and/or the company of family and friends.
