I also would love to see the first Witcher game here on gog, i would buy it as soon as it is available.
Same here, except that... well... read below.
Something of a mixed response over on Slashdot regarding plans to "fine" people who torrent it: http://games.slashdot.org/story/10/11/23/024255/Witcher-2-Torrents-Could-Net-You-a-Fine
Witcher 2 is the only game I've pre-ordered in ages. The original was THAT good. But I really hate this sort of heavy-handed threat, particularly in light of all the problems there have been with people having their information revealed and at least one group of lawyers admitting they knew there would be false positives when they sent out their letters demanding payment. You gotta do what you gotta do but it'll not make you any friends.
I preordered, I was all hyped up about GOG and CD Projeckt... before reading this.
So you intend to go the way of the MPAA and RIAA then, abusing the legal system and extorting money from people? Suing grandpas, college kids and moms? For me this form of "Legal DRM" is just as bad as the technical one, if not worse. Forget me and my friends as customers if you're gonna go that way. In the software world even friggin Microsoft
doesn't go after filesharers, unless they're actually selling counterfeit copies.
If you're gonna make digital goods, you have the advantage that millions of copies cost you nothing, but you're relying on the good will of people to give you money. The alternative is setting up an unacceptable police state. Communicating digitally is now pretty much as easy as speech, so what you're doing now is essentially singing aloud on the street and then sending the lawyers after all those who listened and didn't give you money.
