It seems that you're using an outdated browser. Some things may not work as they should (or don't work at all).
We suggest you upgrade newer and better browser like: Chrome, Firefox, Internet Explorer or Opera

adaliabooks: I didn't do much this time around, but there have been people reporting and removing the spam around the clock and they should be rewarded (free game, store credit) for the sterling job they did :)

cyboff: A lot of people were battling on the front of Bam War, but without toxicTom's scripts we were doomed, so he should be awarded with Medal Of Honour! :D
Definitely, toxicTom's scripts made the whole job much easier (I wish we'd had them when that moron filled the forum with 50 pages of spam at Christmas).

Maxvorstadt: Hmm, it seems as if gog has implemented a filter that sorts out post which are using chinese writing, so the next spam wave will be in latin letters, which would make it maybe a little bit harder to find them at first glance.
Nope: http://www.gog.com/forum/general/this_is_a_test

And people stop it before I blush :-). There wasn't much to it really.

I don't know how they managed to stop that bot, but even with such a dirty trick GOG get some time to find better solution without cluttered forums...

Wishbone: It's an unfortunate shortcoming of the English language that it doesn't distinguish between second person singular and plural.
Yer / You / Youse

= English! ;)

Ciris: Honorable knights and noble ladies!

I have come here to ask your assistance in stopping the wave of spambots that have infiltrated our lines.

In my efforts, I have ventured through many game subforums and struck down multiple threads. However, I am afraid not all have perished.

Should you find a subforum where spam threads still remain abundant, please provide a link (to the sub forum - can't delete threads from within the thread) here below. I vow to boldly go and defeat it, bringing peace and order to all the realms!
What about the wishlist? I keep seeing spammy comments on there too...
It's good to know GOG is working on this. I must admit, It was amazing to see the community come together in an all-out spam war, but It's been out of control for a long time now. Hopefully we can get a more permanent solution.
The buggers return:

Baldur's Gate
Fallout
Might & Magic
Neverwinter Nights
The Witcher 2
Wanted to say the same, but you`ve ninja`d me!

toxicTom: Bot switched to a new user: lkjsgehwo

Well at least now you know how we've felt for last week... :-/

Ciris: I'd noticed SOME spam before, but I must've not encountered the forums that were as flooded by it - I'm in contact with support and the web team to figure something out, though. Hopefully, there'll be something we can do soon!
Could you please pass on a couple of suggestion for the techies?

-Many spam threads have no body, so blocking posts without a body would filter some spam without a chance of negatively affecting legit users.

-A CAPTCHA upon registration would prevent the bots from creating accounts, wouldn't affect the forums and it would be but a minor nuisance for new users (it'd take 10 secs to register instead of the current 5).

I assume they've already thought of that, but one never knows.

Thanks for finally acting on this matter, I hope y'all find a durable solution soon.
It seems to always be the top sub forums, doesn't it? Or did they also go into the smaller game forums, inside threads etc.?

They hit the smaller forums once that I know of (the links show the forums that were hit), but otherwise they've seemed to target the ones that show up on the community when you're offline exclusively.

No, the spam bots create always own topics, they don`t "post" in existing ones.
