gog is politically based :P

RafaelRamus: This is so off the point it is mind boggling. I, for instance, still use my old Win7 computer (somewhat upgraded, but still) and I refused to upgrade to Win10. I use a very old version of MS Office and LibreBR instead of the new stuff. I did buy a Linux computer since then to learn the stuff.

I buy my games here at GOG, but I still own some games there at Steam. If I decide to never buy another game here in this platform I'll still have 600+ games I bought here. This is not the sort of stuff you can do in one day.
avatar
Makasouls: I deleted all my steam stuff in one day and went to this with not many games. I agree with you on linux though, I tried that, and it tkaes way more then 1 day. I tried for 3 days and realized I would be spending more time messing with files than playing games and went back to windows and gog galaxy, which i like alot, gog galaxy not windows. I hate windows 10, but I do like that my new hardware works. I do miss windows 7 alot.
so true , this is what linux fanboys mistake , we dont care for the os , we just want to play games and do other stuff not tweek the os nonstop

It's cute that CCP wants everyone in the world to respect their own law while they themselves gives zero fuck to international law and convention

949801422: most Chinese want to unite with Taiwanese, but the governments on both sides are attacking each other. Unfortunately, this is not a problem with video games, and an ordinary person cannot change it.

Jorev: Taiwan is an independent sovereign nation. Only China refuses to recognize this fact.
Taiwanese enjoy and prosper with democracy and have no interest in living under communism.

Chinese cities are a humongous joke. It's poverty everywhere and the hard thing is you - the Chinese people - have no idea because most of you have never been abroad. It is alright if you're an invited foreigner, consultant, etc, but I would hate living in a Chinese city.

laser_eyes: Ok, Mr Purity, turn your computer off now and never turn it on again. Of course that means that you can never play a PC game again, but that's your standard. Microsoft does a lot of business in China and llike every company that does business here they obey the orders of the government. So follow your standard. Turn off your computer and never turn it on again. You want to boycott companies that do business in China. Then you can't use Windows. No more PC games for you.
He he. I actually use Linux exclusively, 100%. I don't use Windows, for the exact reason that I dislike their controlling surveillance bloatware and anti-consumer BS. I can play the vast majority of PC games on Linux just fine. The minority that I can't, I don't play (and am not interested in) :-)

Whenever I buy a product, I always check where it is made and avoid Chinese if at all possible. Of course, it's not always possible, as Chinese goods are so ubiquitous. But it's not my fault if I am not being given a meaningful alternative as a consumer. The West's level of dependence on China is extremely dangerous, imo. In fact, I'd say that dangerous level of dependence alone is reason enough to boycott.

949801422: So, I am a Chinese player, and I can understand your anger, but in fact, foreigners cannot understand. This is a serious problem in China, which cannot be offended and is a political correctness. Just like racism and homosexuality in the United States. If the dedication is listed on GOG, then Chinese users cannot access GOG (just possible) just like steam.
GOG has many users in China, but they don't like communication. Here, CDPR has a large number of advertisements in China, and even middle school students have purchased Cyberpunk 2077.
I just used GOG,
I buy games on GOG almost every day. I don’t want GOG to be shut down. Because of steam and GOG, piracy is decreasing significantly. Among the players I know, more and more people have PS4, SWITCH, XBOX
and...If you want to play dedication, you can go to the PlayStation store
Hey, if you and other Chinese people want to censor something you don't like, that offends your leader, fair enough. But, please keep that shit within your borders! I live in a country where we value free speech and free expression. Why should I have to tolerate your country trying to impose your values on me and telling me what games I can and cannot buy, just because your leader is thin-skinned and has no sense of humor?

haha what you meant to say was you live in a contry that has free speach as long as you dont offend the leaders. If you start talking shit in public about muslims in uk ur going to jail, so there is no differnce. There is no place where you can speak freely but your own home, Go into a town board meeting and start calling the head of the town a down syndrome whinny the pooh, see what happens haha. I guarentee they wont go we reapect your speech, they will kick you out. If you resist they will put ypu in jail, if you hurt the police while resisting chances are they will kick the living shit out of you.

RafaelRamus: You being offended by an Earlier version of the game because it made fun of your leader is already weird for Western standards (making fun of politicians is a healthy thing in true democracies, you know, places where there isn't a dictator for life that can't be mocked), but ok, we could understand a ban of the game in your country (it would still be weird, I mean, if you don't like a game just vote with your wallet, leave your 1 star rating and comment and let others decide for themselves what to do).

Now, the moment Chinese inner politics starts affecting everyone else rights to purchase a product we have a problem and you no longer have my sympathies regardless of me trying to understand your cultural background. In other words, this actually hurts the Chinese image outside. You're not even a US-like superpower with troops in every continent and you're already dictating what I can and can't buy - this is not good and we will resist it.

949801422: China is not North Korea. On China’s Internet, there are criticisms of the government’s policies, which the government does not control. Under the Chinese culture, politicians are different from the United States. Even without any language control, the people still have a good impression of the government, especially after COVID-19. Maybe you will talk about some of the problems in the 1980s, but the government at that time was different from now.
Moreover, mocking politicians does not provide any constructive help. It has nothing to do with democracy.
The United States has troops all over the world. Do you think this is a good thing?
Something something social credit score something something Li Wenliang something something QQ something something no anonymity something something... Eh, who am i kidding? I talked to other people in mainland china through means illegal for them and they don't seem to share your sentiment. Frankly, i knew them much better than i know you, so i'm skeptical that you're even chinese.

Free speech in Western countries is what allows things like this to happen:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pZOF9q5fzfs

In the UK, they have law against inciting hatred. So, yes, it is true there are some limitations on free speech there. But it is still very much legal to mock and ridicule political leaders. Free speech is nowhere near as restricted there as it is in China.

Resisting arrest has nothing to do with free speech. Law enforcement has a legal right to arrest you, if you are suspected of a crime. That is necessary to protect law and order. If you feel you are being wrongfully arrested, then you should take that up through legal channels, not react violently.

This coming from someone that people should stop using computers altogether? Go fuck yourself with a soldering iron.

Bias on CCP to a Chinese is close to saying N word to Africa Americans. Chinese deal with their government in their own way like black people say N word to each other. But this is not your Anglo Sphere's business.
