lowyhong: Yeah let's all say no to indie titles that have a higher MSRP than $15, just because.

What the hell GOG? I'm not seeing the logic here. It's fine to sell a $30 game that is published by a 3rd party, but it's not okay to sell an independently published game that costs $25?
I'm curious about that myself. They were fine bringing TW2 here for considerably more than that and there are games like RCT3 where they're charging $20 for a 7 year old game, but somehow a new indie game for $25 or $30 is too much.

I'm sorry, but I don't get it. If I can't buy it here, then I'll probably buy it from them directly and they can keep all the money.

Given how they sold out on pricing already, I'm not sure why indie developers get the shaft while the customers are expected to shell out $20 for a game as old as RCT3.

I really and truly hope that the devs are mistaken or lying, because this makes GOG look really bad.

wormholewizards: I think it's from business point of view. RCT3 maybe because they already partner with Atari.
How many indie games out there that priced above $15? From Desura it's not much, but in my opinion not all of them deserved high price point. Maybe GOG should make an exception for Xenonauts.
Are there no other games they could have released? From what I understand RCT3 isn't hard to find for less if one is willing to put up with a physical copy.

Uhh sorry but this game looks like a Facebook game... 10 bucks is the tops and that is even too much. Indie developers are getting greedy every day.

For instance: Grim Dawn - 18$,Republique - 15$,Double Fine - 15$,Wasteland 2 - 15$,Shadowrun - 15$ and at least couple more are asking for less.... and they look better and will be better games.

So for what reason this game deserves 25$???? Or gamers are cows that should be milked by everybody who wants to get rich...

p.s. And again Amanita design is screwing with GOG... another promo for Botanicula ..this time on Steam... and HIB wasn't enough?
Well, perhaps within a year it will be cheaper. Twenty five or thirty is a lot for an indie but I don't see the big deal. If GOG had the game here at 25 and then dropped it in price a year down the road that would be good. Just because it's Indie does not necessarily mean it should be sold at 15 dollars. Let the user decide if he wants to pay 25.

I know GOG is trying to set a standard pricing tier for indies but Xenonauts seems typically higher quality then the average indie that comes out. So its probably worth more then $15. Looks like there is a lot of re-playability for the game also.

There is a lot of shitty games that are published that cost more then 20 bucks and GOG will start to get more of these due to putting newer games into its catalogue. After purchasing and playing AC and HOM & magic 5 when they came out as a special sale I would not pay full price for these games does that make me mad that they cost that much? No it does not. If an indie game was good then I would pay more then 20 dollars for it. I think Indie developers will be able to distinguish weather there game is worth $10, $15, $20, $25, and even $30. Its not really GOG's job to tell a small game company that has worked on a game for three years that there game is not worth $25.

Anyway not very coherent thoughts but I don't necessarily think GOG should decide that a game should not be on GOG because it is an Indie game.

Speaking of which I guess we will not be seeing the banner Saga on here probably, which is actually the most anticipated game that I am waiting for. Seeing as the trilogy will cost $50 dollars that works out to $16.66 a chapter. Oh well GOG's lost opportunity.

What promo? New releases on GOG are typically 10% off. The game was barely released there, so...

Why single out indies though? They were willing to bend their rules to give us RCT3, but in this case they won't bend them to give a new game that's possibly better?

I can buy a copy of Xenonauts elsewhere and have it DRM free, so that's not a problem, but what is a problem is the selective spine that Mr. Gog has been showing lately. Sometimes we don't get goodies, sometimes the price is above what it should be. It really detracts from the faith that the community placed in them early on and I'm not really sure what to think.
I don't exactly agree with you Spine Farm. Baldurs Gate didn't look much different then some of those game you mentioned but was 50 bucks when it came out. If your argument applies to some of those indies then it should apply to some of the greatest games that were ever made by developers and publishers. The budgets for the greats were not that expensive back in the day. Yet they asked 50 dollars for some of the titles.

Grim Dawn and Torchlight II will probably be worth their cost and then some. You can always wait for price drops if you don't like it. Considering inflation its a pretty good price point. The prices you mentioned most likely will also go up. So none of those games will probably be on GOG. Grim Dawn specifically mentions that the $18 price point is at "a low price point for your early support".

Considered the possibility that companies with large back catalogs may retain the right to specify a number of games that a seller like GOG has to take ?

And someone considers RCT3 may be worth even more, since the list price is $30 on Steem and the Atari store.

I don't know if you are a troll, but I'll bite.

Xenonauts is a perfect match for GOG - it's an indie game improving an old-school genre where graphics don't matter.

WIth all those "cheaper" games you mentioned, you forgot to mention one thing - this is their prepaid price, basically a free loan to the devs a year or more in advance in exchange for a digital license.

And lastly - you have every right to refuse to buy a game for a certain price. What I don't understand is why you moralize about prices. There is no wrong price. If the price is too high for you, it's not wrong. It simply doesn't match the value you expect to get from the game.

Totally agree with everything your saying Revisor. So I uprated your post.

Enough with the f**king RCT3 it is cheaper than all the Digital Distributors. It is cheaper than retail in USA ... So enough with this already... Quake 3 Arena is from 2007 and it is 19.99euro... so? Modern Warfare 1 is from 2007 - 24.99 euro... Call Of Duty 2 is 2006 and it is 19.99 euro....
And stop mixing Digital with Retail...

Why? Just because it's an isometric game? They spent over 2 years developing this game. There's nothing wrong if you think it's expensive, but how is asking for $25 greedy?

And has been posted quite a few times, those prices are ridiculously high as there are boxed retail copies to be had for less than what GOG is charging and less than what Steam and Atari are charging.

What's more, I highly doubt that GOG has no other options of games to release or was foolish enough to sign an agreement like that as they would have no way of knowing how many of those games they could get working well enough to release.

The same free loan go to this devs... but when you ask 20-25$ for a game. You should put better effort in it.
Can you compare the quality of graphics & design of let's say Banner Saga to Xenonauts?

Yes you put your time in this... yes you want to make something... but try with lower price...

So far only fans of X-Com series are jumping for the price because they are fans. If GOG allows this every fricking Indie dev will push for higher prices and we are back to square one ;)

p.s.btw remember the 3 dudes behind QUBE... they don't mind selling their game for lower price... and they don't exploit similarity to other games ;)
