Hmm... looks like they have a branch office just a few miles from where I live. Maybe I should pay them a visit sometime and nag them about the System Shocks.

Here's the thing - I've just gone and investigated this and the indie developer has gone and placed bukoo amounts of time into the game and it's pormotion.
The challenge that the developer is up against is that his ambition has already been pefected in UFO Afterlight.
This isn't to say that another rehash isn't desirable or unnecessary.
And it's not to say that his pricing is outrageous either because if he's independently trying to put food in his mouth through a job at Burger King, he's going to have to replace his income if he quits his job to complete this game.
BUT he's going to have to plea to the sentiments of rich investors who don't really care how much return they'll acquire from the finished product but instead are handing him the bling out of admiration for his efforts.
I can't see this on GOG because it's not a finished product but if I were him I would promote it to the masses for less than ten (and option to donate more) on Desura and Indievania as an 'Alpha' release that may never be finished and keep himself posted on Kickstarter as extra opportunity to appeal to investors.

My impression was UFO Afterlight (series) wasn't too crash hot and missing things the originals had and everyone loved?
$20 for a digital copy isnt a bad price. Maybe $15 might be more tempting for people though. Having said that how will Xenonauts differentiate itself from the Firaxis version? (obviously a big budget difference)

There are a lot of great Indy games and I for one would like to see more games in the $15-25 price range available on GOG. Obviously I'm not asking for a random price hike but artificially reducing the title options based on a price point is excessive.
We have a review system in place for every game, we have a forum to discuss each game, we have the internet to research any game and we have the ability to choose whether or not to put a game into our carts and buy it.
I'd rather spend my money with GOG than elsewhere but there are Indy games I will be buying when the come out and some of them are over "the magic threshold".
So I ask you GOG, y u no want my monies?
Seriously tho, change this offering the *option* doesn't hurt anyone who has no desire to use it, but *not* offering it limits everyone who'd like to use it.
EDIT: Yes semi thread necro but having run a few forums I'd rather do the mods the courtesy of trying to keep my comments which are within the scope of preexisting threads within those thread as opposed to cluttering the forum with superfluous reboots.
