Vagabond: Help add these ports to their game's pages on the GOGWiki!
Better clear the mess here first,

then copy paste the final into the wiki. ;)
Don't forget Open Tyrian. I think GOG's Tyrian 2000 comes bundled with it already.
Being a non-programmer, I wonder: Do we need source ports? Can games be reverse engineered? I mean it seems like a programmer could look at a program and say: "If I want a mob or sprite like this to move from here to here and interact with another object in this way, given the game was developed in the mid-90s or whatever using the hardware and operating systems available at that time...."

A little imagination and know-how can accomplish a lot with old tech. Right?

GOG only included the original game's soundtrack as an extra, not OpenTyrian. I don't think they legally can included source ports of the games they offer.

Open Tyrian is GPL and they include ScummVM with other games which is GPL too so I assumed it might be the case. I have to check if GOG installs Open Tyrian or not but I remember that DotEmu did.

What license the port might be under is meaningless, unless GOG secured permissions from the original rights holder to also include it (as they did with the games that rely on ScummVM and DOSBox), it can't be included. I can confirm that the GOG version does not install OpenTyrian.

While you are right that the GOG version does not install OpenTyrian, I believe the OP was simply making a list of all gams with source ports, not ones that GOG had you install directly - so OpenTyrian can still be added to the list like Feespace SCP et al ... which are open source projects which GOG does not officially support. The reason I wrote earlier that I don't think Red Baron 3D counts is that while maybe back in 1998 one could've considered it an official source port of Red Baron 2 by Sierra itself, by now Red Baron 3D is simply the game. It's not a huge thing obviously but meh ... thought I'd mention it.

EDIT: Apparently I had a reading comprehension failure - ignore post.

cogadh isn't saying that it shouldn't be added to the list, he's simply saying that it's not bundled with the GOG release of Tyrian, and that GOG can't just do that if they want to. Go back and read his and OmegaX's posts again, you'll see what I mean.

Ah my mistake ... I did read the earlier posts but for some reasons read the phrase "it can't be included" as referencing being included on the OP's list (which I thought was odd), not that "the open source port can't be included on GOG" which is what he was saying.

Oops. Reading comprehension failure. Apologies to cogadh.

As I said, I wasn't sure if it included it or not, thanks for confirming that it doesn't. It's a shame though because the Open Tyrian project is supposed to be more compatible.
It's weird that they didn't include it because the original rights holder made Tyrian freeware and they also granted access to the Open Tyrian project to the game's source code to help them make the port. I'm sure that if GOG had asked they would have let them do it.
WOAH! Dead thread for forever, and suddenly it lives again!! lol!

It's really late now, but I'll update the list sometime tomorrow. :)

Yeah, I had it favourited and thought that it could use a revival.
Source ports are one of the best parts of PC gaming.
FreeSpace 1 is kinda supported by FSOpen too.

taczillabr: Thanks very much for the effort, A_Future_Pilot. Well well... I can only say I love source ports, cause they preserve the game or enhance it even further.

HeXen 2:
Ultimate Quake Engine (shortened as UQE, funny that it only supports HeXen 2 as of now)

Operation Flashpoint: (more like mods, changing it to be more realistic plus fixes, like the FCAM mod for Far Cry you posted)
ECP Redux 1.1
WGL 5.1 (WarGames League 5.1)
FFUR 1985 1.05

Blood:
Once I've made a post about Blood, here.

There's also the Commander Keen and other links I've posted, all scattered in this thread., hundreds of posts.
Umm...Are those GOG games? Maybe I'm just stupid (always a possibility with me ;)

So is that all that was posted since it was last updated? Correct me if not :)
