Maighstir: They're advertising the name "GOG" pretty hard with Galaxy, though, aren't they? Even the icon is just "gog com" inside a circle. Whereas for Steam, you'd have to take at least a few more steps to have "Valve" mentioned anywhere (you'd basically have to resort to reading the legal documents, and who does that?).
i see it happening quite often with consoles
microsoft is called xbox all of a sudden ( never mind the huge ass ms name when you boot the console up or the name plastered on the console and the controllers )

and sony either playstation or the playstation is called sony

"The Nintendo"... isn't that what all consoles are called? Or rather, isn't that a synonym for "game console"? (Similar to how "Xerox" have become a much more common synonym for photocopy in English-speaking countries, and "Google" for web search.)

but ive seen people call microsoft the xbox ie you should call xbox if you are having trouble with your 360 instead of call microsoft if you are having trouble with your 360

we dont say that word here. we just say photocopy / photocopier - branding isnt sufficient to the common level here for xerox to be used - maybe in some office environments

So does that mean you read the topic title as "God not working"?

Yeah, I've only ever heard xerox used as a verb in American TV and films, always photocopy here in my experience.
