gogtrial34987: Amused because mafia must be soooo frustrated right now; first they (presumably) kill the SK and lose one of their number, then they (presumably) fail to kill. Most ineffective mafia team ever. I don't think we could've gotten better outcomes out of these first two nights. How could that not amuse you? (Particularly in contrast with the frustration of being quite convinced of GR being town and yet not being able to sway anyone in order to prevent his mislynch.)

(Also, yep, still liking you for suspecting / questioning me!)
Huh.

We see things a tad bit differently, I guess. I'm gladdened, but not amused. But yes, a very inefficient scum-team.
Of course, I appreciate the nice thoughts.

Again, the only ways I see that no N2NK occurred was another RB (1-shot or not), a Doc, failing to agree on who to vote for, or running out of time. Your thoughts?
Hey guys, sorry for not being around but I just came from a second 16 hour workday in a row and I'm knackered. Things shohuld calm down tomorrow so and I should be back around noon tomorrow.
avatar
gogtrial34987: Theoretically possible but unlikely: mafia held their kill in order to get scene and probably then also GR mislynched.
Oh good, we can skip the rest of the scenario. :)

avatar
gogtrial34987: Ah.

That took a moment for the implication of your question to sink in. Hrm, but that means we're dealing with... It explains...

No, wait. Clarify the original question please?
Basically, I'm saying "Don't get complacent".

avatar
gogtrial34987: * gogtrial: Once again universally town-read
I'm also a sucker for effort, so if you pull a scum win, so be it. Just realize that if you've snowed me - again - then Imma hack your computer and delete all your porn.

Need to run, will read the rest of these long posts later.
avatar
supplementscene: Fair enough. Do you currently have any suspicions of any other players? Specifically what do you think of JoeSapphire?
I still have JoeSapphire as neutral, probably leaning more town than scum. He's hard for me to get a good read on as his scum and town game are very similar.

avatar
gogtrial34987: Does this imply that you still town-read scene as in #547? Have you seen any town-signs from him since then which you could share?
I've not noticed anything that stands out as a town-sign from scene, it's more of a vibe I get overall from his posts. I know his logic is often eyebrow raising, but I don't see a scum scene drawing as much attention to himself as he has done this game.

avatar
flubbucket: You can ISO me simply enough.

Focusing on a few posts should clarify my alignment. For example...
Then I'm going on record that flubbucket is scum. I will be mocking with pelvic thrusts when I'm proven right.

I am unsatisfied.
What has you unsatisfied?
avatar
Microfish_1: 1. Eh, he says he didn't.
Thank you for the recap & clarification. I had forgotten when I was half-asleep writing the post you quoted.
Alright, I guess I have to do some small time interrogation now.

SUPPLEMENTSCENE!!!!!
avatar
supplementscene: ...
Have you taken Microfish's scum play in SH in consideration at any point in this game?

avatar
Microfish_1: Why base you trust of blot off of "I just do?" Are you masons together?
blotunga flipped vanilla town. He cannot be a mason. I won't blame you 100% for this since you weren't that active on D1. Just 20% blame will do the trick!

avatar
Microfish_1: @Pooka, when I was F, if you recall, I was attacking Zeo (I also have a hard time seeing him as a sheep, but whatever) from the get-go. I was swinging from the very start, trying to sow confusion in discord. This time I didn't bother voting until #305. i didn't even vocalize suspicions until #204. How can you see this as being scum!me when it is so different from "try to confuse everyone with wild claims from the very start!Micro"? You know better. You know you know better. So does scene, if he wasn't scum. In fact, I think *ANYONE* from that game would notice the difference.
But, Microfish, Microfish, you have to consider that Play Styles Evolve™. The more you play Mafia or Secret Hitler, the more you pick up on what things you should and shouldn't do in the future. As an example, you no longer put effort into making the posts you did in the Captain Sapphire game, because it hurt you - it's not exactly evolution, and one would argue it's devolution instead, but the concept is the same: you tried this, it hurt you, so you're trying something else instead.

Likewise, I can argue that your scum play in Secret Hitler was audacious. If you had just went along with me at the time zeogold said to just pick you (search [from: zeogold#3701 If we're getting that drastic] without the braces), you could have been installed into my government. Yet you continued doing what you were doing until when I effectively nominated you as Chancellor, everyone was upset at my choice and they took the risk of a topdeck and losing an executive power OVER having you as Chancellor. I can argue that from this game onwards, you'd be trying a different approach as scum. Perhaps instead of sowing chaos and confusion, you make people trust you instead. Or you would continue to sow chaos but be subtle about it rather than being all over the place.

TL;DR, you would avoid zeogold's recap of your (and scene's) play.

Speaking of zeogold...

avatar
dedoporno: I still hold a grudge against him and the naive Town players of one particular game (it wasn't the exact same situation but his boldness and other people's sheepness (most notably zeogold, if I remember correctly)) has left a permanent mark on me.
> zeogold
> sheepness

You have to explain this. I MUST hear it.

avatar
gogtrial34987: He currently seems to be flaundering a bit, but I recognize that from myself in my first few games.
I do have trouble picking up nuances at this point of the game. Summaries of a player would be even harder, and at this point, it would be herculean to list a summary of player interactions compared to before, not to mention I'm less likely to sit on my PC now and would instead prefer to lay down in the comfort of the AC. But I think I should make flub my next stop, since he's been suspected when scene isn't, and his posts are short. Either way, I also like your play and how much effort you're putting into the game!
Right, so I'm finding Trent's play changed and unusual. He was correct when he stated I and Gamerager were Town. He wasn't suspicious of GR like some of us. He leans to finding Joe town.

My current working theory is Trent is Mafia knowing he is close to defeat. He doesn't want to be caught lynching any town player. So Trent backs away not wanting to get lynched so he makes sure he doesn't attack any town players. Hence he says he finds Scene/GR Town, so when they are lynched he can say 'which Scum was on their wagon'.

So I ask Trent, which players do you find suspicious, specifically Joe. His only reply is he finds Joe Townie but hard to read. No other suspicions are highlighted in what was an opportunity to offer reads on other players. He seemingly finds everyone Townie except for Flub.

Trent's finding no town player suspicious other than Flub. A player who is either his scumbuddy or a town player he knows won't go on a OMGUS rant.

This is not how Town players think. Because Town players don't know who's Scum, we try to figure out players, suspect several players usually. There's no scumhunting from Trent and I think it's defensive Mafia play.

VOTE TRENT

Maybe I'm wrong and he is deadly sure about Flub but it doesn't ring true to me.

avatar
trentonlf: My two cents, and it's probably not even worth that much. All of these reads I am going to give are all based more on gut and the overall feel of posts versus any concrete posts I can refer too.

Not voting today unless something extraordinary happens because I believe they are town

1. As much as it pains me, supplementscene.
2. Gamerager, even though he is the leading wagon, and from his posts I believe him that his lynch would be a mistake.
3. Gogtrial, if he's scum I'll tip my hat to him as he has me fooled because everything I see is him trying to figure things out.
4. bookwyrm, same as Gogtrial.

My top belief for scum
flubbucket, his play for me is just off enough that I think he is scum. He gives very little away in his posts, but I find him to be more aggressive in his play that is hidden behind his humor.

If there are two scum left my second pick is dedoporno. As with flub dedo has felt off just enough that he doesn't feel like Town dedo.

Everyone else I have ranged between probably town to maybe scum.

Unvote Microfish
Vote flubbucket

PookaMustard: Have you taken Microfish's scum play in SH in consideration at any point in this game?
Not really. In SH, the other Fascists panicked when they saw the board layout and tried to block Liberal governments. I assume this happened as I was just voting Yes to everything because as a Fascist you don't make it obvious. The only time I argued a Liberal was when I had a Liberal concern. IE a red president investigating you as Liberal could be 2 fascists buddying. That is a legit concern if you are Liberal.

I'd imagine Microfish is aware he botched that game as he talked himself out of being President so has probably adjusted his playstyle. This game he's been very distant which hasn't matched either style of play, ie Fasc or Town.

Is he a good candidate, yes possibly, but I prefer Trent.
Vote Count

(When you see a vote count please quickly make sure your vote is against the correct player. Let me know if it's not)

scene 3 - Microfish, Pooka, Bookwyrm
Microfish 1 - Joe
flub 1 - trent
trent 1 - scene

Everyone else - 0
Not voting: flub, gogtrial, dedo

9 players. Takes 5 to lynch.
scene is closest at L-2

FYI, to speed things up, I'll be shortening both Days and Nights.

gogtrial34987: * scene: I am concluding that his "5%" was too wilfully ignoring the posts where it had been pointed out that it was 30%, and that he's banking on his usual playstyle and lack of reading providing cover for this. His "If you can direct me otherwise I'll look at my vote again" and then not doing so screams scum to me. Plus everything else. My one point of hesitation is SPF's behaviour toward him, but hell, that might've been coaching after all.

* gogtrial: That's me. Once again universally town-read, and not even Joe is questioning it. (I was still holding out hope for scene being the lone exception, but it seems he's not willing to share just yet, and of course now that I've put him at the top of my list, and might achieve the coveted 4th position on his wagon (L-1... should I?), chances are that he will be...)
I found you Scummy on Day 1 and you could be, I'll re-read if I survive today.

Let's clarify what happened:

1. I started the Joe wagon, which I also re-started today

2. I then started the Gamerager wagon after he gave dubious reasoning for getting on mine

3. I stepped off the Gamerager wagon believing Joe the better lynch, which I reasoned why and I stayed off until the final day of play.

4. I asked what chance there was of a Roleblocked, IIRC it was Joe who said 5% chance.

5. I moved back to Gameragers wagon on the final day after being told the 5% was for each roll and it multiple times. The only options open to me, were A) Gamerager B) Scene. I thought GRs play suspicious enough to go with him over No Lynch.

And when it shows I'm town what then??

I was obviously wrong, but what level of audacity would I have to have as scum to put myself out there like that??
Things are still quite busy, I hope I don't have to ask for a replacement but until that clears up I've stolen a few moments to catch up.

avatar
PookaMustard: By the way dedo, I see you think I could be possible scum along with Joe and Micro. But is there anything to support me being not possible scum along these two? Like, I'd love a list on what of my play is town and what of my play is scummy.
I've already said a couple of times that so far it felt like you were actually trying to figure the game out. gogtrial will probably spit at me for this, but please, please, please don't make me write the same damn thing again. I neither have the time nor desire to reiterate things and I promise you I'll point things out as soon as something new comes up or changes from it's previous state.

On what I find scummy - nothing in particular. On D1 there was a small quick shift in votes towards Scene which made Trent jump and it did make an impression on me but I'm not really putting too much weight on it. I've listed you in one of the scum pools because, well, there is scum among us and after looking at the wagons and who did or didn't do what I ended up with a few pools that make sense in different scenarios. It just happens that you are in one of these pools - that doesn't necessarily make you the most nor least scummy, I just have to consider that some of the people I'm Town-reading may have fooled me and so far there is only two people that I just can't see that happening for.

As for GR's wagon - I can't blame most people on it for being on it. Others may not agree entirely or at all with me but in my book he was just off on a number of plains. That's the worst part about such lynches where a Town player provides so many reasons for legitimate lynch that mafia basically get it for free. That being said, scum (especially a lonely one) pretty much had to make that mislynch happen at all costs just to stay in the game for a little longer and try to turn things around. That's the wagon cannot just be discarded.

I hope this answers your question.

avatar
JoeSapphire: yeah sorry it wasn't supposed to make sense. There's no reason why I should trust your bookwyrm read, and yet I find that I do. Leap of faith?
Right. If you said so I wouldn't have said anything probably. You just keep weirding me out with the reasons you give people credit (or take it away). You have a pretty mouth, though, so I'll let you with a warning this time.

avatar
JoeSapphire: I would support these wagons:
Trent
Flub
Microfish

I will not join these wagons:
Gogtrial
Pooka
Supplementscene
Joe
I see.

avatar
Bookwyrm627: Gogtrials point about Gamerager not interracting with SPF made me believe Gamerager was less likely to flip Mafia, while I hoped he would.
This keeps getting brought up. Maybe I'm just stupid but this point makes zero sense to me and it's one of the few if not the only one thoughts of gogtrial that I find nonsensical.

avatar
supplementscene: 2. I won't give that list just yet but nearer deadline for several reasons.
When is this going to happen exactly? Well, not exactly but a general approximation of the time frame would be appreciated.

On the same note, @Wyrm, what is your stance on this particular point? (pre-post edit: I see you voted Scene, is that related in some way?)

avatar
gogtrial34987: Did dedo go down, or did Pooka go up between these two posts? Why?
It's not impossible for dedo to go down on Joe ['s list], him being hot just like an oven.

avatar
gogtrial34987: As an aside here for those who weren't there: mafia!scene claimed doctor in #55 (which was C9++ "with a twist"), and wasn't able to answer the question if he could self-protect at that point.
Ha!

avatar
gogtrial34987: * flub: As I wrote in a roundup post yesterDay, he was far too instrumental in both blotunga and GameRager's wagons, and he not usually that wrong.
How wrong is flub usually?

avatar
gogtrial34987: I'd "cleared" him to myself yesterDay based on SPF's lack of meaningful posts directed toward him, but am putting less trust in that now.
avatar
gogtrial34987: Also, SPF didn't interact with him.
Bruh. Screw it. To each, their own, right?

avatar
Microfish_1: FWIW, when I don't have solid suspicions, I try to just nose around calmly and inoffensively, gathering data from the on-deck circle.
Emphasis added by me. The issue with that is that it's a particularity of players who don't want to attract attention. Which is more often than not a not-so-great sign.

avatar
PookaMustard: You have to explain this. I MUST hear it.
After the game ends I can tell you what I remember about it or if you feel like it you can read the actual game. I'm not sure which one it was, though. Maybe someone else can help with that.

But either way I don't consider him to be scumhunting as he was on Day 1.

avatar
dedoporno: Is that the list?
I held back on my reads wanting to hear Trent's answers first.

I mean I've given my reads for the most part and I've voted for numerous players, highest chance of Scum imo:

1. Trent - not scumhunting, not getting on any serious lynch wagon Day 2. Strikes me as a player hiding on an unpopular lynch because he doesn't want to seem scummy.

2. Joe - SPFs voted for majority of Day 1 strikes me as distancing but. Predicted SPF, Carr and Microfish were Scumteam. Carr isn't Mafia he's SK but SPF is. He didn't answer when I asked him about his prediction. He didn't answer when I asked.

I support a Joe lynch

3. Microfish - his play is more distance with far less analysis than anything I remember.

4. Gogtrial - from recollection I didn't consider his Day 1 even handed and he was on 2 town players. Could be town on town violence but I'm not entirely convinced. People assume because he has plenty of analysis he is town, but this doesn't have to be so.

5. Bookwyrm - something seems off with him to me but others think he seems town, meh, I don't know.

6. Flub - you can never read Flub, so if there's nothing else he doesn't make a bad lynch.

7. Dedo - no read, all analysis sounds reasonable but that could be because he wants to seem town

8. Pooka - seems most Town, he's played a good game regardless of alignment. But has he believed me Town and on my wagon? As he has said since Day 1

9. Scene - only player I know is town
