Some reviewers on the Phantom Liberty shop paige said that GOG is dead because it has DRM and that you can only use it via GOG galaxy, is that true?

They review bombed it.

People are saying this every year about GOG.

Some people telling bullshit, that's all.
A few items need you to use Galaxy
A few items are give away by twitch drops.

If you installed Redmod (the modding tool), the game can crash with the newest patch when not using Galaxy, while renaming the Galaxy.dll (or however it was named) will solve this.

So some people now hyperventilate about the game being now fully DRMed...

And somehow they manage to get the "idea" that gog now follows the way of Steam or whatever as it seems.


Make your own mind about people who behave like that.

Anyway: somebody must have screwed up. And then GOG again screwed up with no communication about the screw up. And I have no idea if they put any fix up so far (I don't have the game).

Honestly surprised people are shocked by the free dlc locked behide twitch drops. This is not new.

What are "twitch drops?"

I guess it has to do with watching a stream of someone who has drops enabled, and you can unlock free DLC automatically after meeting requirements or something.

Pretty much you need twitch account and watch steamers who do twitch drops to get the DLC.

GOG hasn't (yet) released any porn games this week. So I guess that some people are probably nervous and need to vent.
I guess the Neptunia lolitas haven't been of much help after all.

There are several reasons for that.
1) At the moment, Cyberpunk 2077 crashes on startup without Galaxy for a lot of people. It runs fine via Galaxy.

2) The Pre-Order car is still missing its offline installer.

3) Cyberpunk 2077's Galaxy-Bound "My Rewards" now contain 16 items from variety of sources (Owning multiple CDPR games, Twitch Drops, Amazon Prime rewards), whereas the original Cyberpunk 2077 only had 5 Galaxy-Bound "My Rewards".

That being said, GOG has far more 3rd party games than CDPR games and is thus very much alive. It is just CDPR that is becoming increasingly pro-DRM. Loads of other games remain DRM-Free. None of it is free because Twitch requires a subscription. Additionally, even then you don't get everything "for free", because you need to buy two additional subscriptions and gift them to someone else to get the rifle. At this point they should just charge $10 for that rifle directly on GOG.com, rather than make us go through hoops.
