Wishbone: Good Morning Vietnam, actually (given that the thread was necroed again, I though I might just as well post this).
That is exactly where I ripped it off from.

And no I had nothing to do with this necro.

Don't worry, some will blame you anyway.

moonage: That's a weird way to classify a game. TPP is a perspective, not a genre. TPP can run the gamut from World of Warcraft to Tomb Raider to Syberia.
This was always a way to classify shooters, at least when I was a kid. For some it made a huge difference if it was third or first. For me it only mattered on consoles, the tpp usually came with an aim assist while fpp didn't. That wasn't always the case, but I could just not aim using a gamepad and would play most fpp games on pc where I could use keyboard and mouse. The Wii was actually really exciting for me because of the Wiimote for aiming, it was probably the first time in my life that I actively looked for fps on a console over pc. I never really played fantasy or rpg games in fpp, I just didn't like it. One of the only games I ever got that were fpp for an rpg was Morrowind.

Anyway, the point is that during the time when most of these games were made the third or first person perspective was as much of a factor as the genre was, at least for some.
...And this thread has officially gone from TPP to TRR: Third Resurrection Retrospective.
