Due to the popularity of our Gem promos--and our ever-growing catalog!--we're making Gem promos every Wednesday now. More gems for everyone! Huzzay!

Darkstone, a classic hack-and-slash that introduced 3D graphics into the genre, will have you hacking through hordes of horrors with a 60% discount for the next 24 hours.

If your name is Lord Draak and you wield the power to transform yourself into a giant dragon, becoming an evil overlord seems like an obvious career choice. And when, by some strange and totally unexpected twist of fate, you end up deprived of your magic, banished from the realm, and nearly killed, you have no other option but to gather back your minions and devise a new evil plot to terrorize the land and rebuild your dark domain. Right? RIGHT?! Well, tough luck, Lord Draak--Darkstone isn’t about you. It’s about the valiant heroes that are coming to get you.

In Darkstone a party of up to four adventurers set off on a quest to free the realm of Uma of its oppressor. In the co-op multi-player mode each player controls one of them. In single-player you can switch between two characters and the computer will assume the role of the one you’re currently not handling. There are four provinces to explore, each with its own set of quest-filled, procedurally-generated dungeons to keep you busy and boost the game’s replay value.

13 years after its release, Darkstone remains one of the most memorable titles of the hack-and-slash genre! Start dungeon crawling now, for only $2.39 until Thursday, July 26 at 10:59 AM GMT.
Yay! I wanted this game in my preciousss collection. Even though it'll probably be years before I get around to playing it.

That sounds like an AWESOME game!

Overlord in RPG style. Somebody make this game.

Barneyhamster85: Hi everyone,

Darkstone is a fantastic game but just be aware before you buy that if you're running an NVIDIA graphics card on a WIndows XP system, the game will run but with serious graphical errors resulting in the game being unplayable.

I paid "full-price" for the game at release, but as "full-price" only meant $5.99 I wasn't too bitter about it, but it should be noted somewhere that this game has serious compatibility issues with XP so that other paupers like myself who still run the old Windows version won't make the mistake that I did.

Otherwise, for those disappointed by Diablo 3, Darkstone may fill that click-hack-slash-loot hole in your soul!
Have other people had the same problems as you?
Great promo. I was very curious about this game but normally I'm not that much into hack & slays. Now I'll definitely check it out - and I'm afraid that its gonna devour a lot of my time.
Two hours into the game and this is the most fun I've had with a game in ages.

There's tons of loot to pick up, cool quests and lots of baddies to kill. It's fun playing with two characters too, as you have to keep switching or one levels up a lot and the other doesn't leve up at all.

So far, really awesome game. Very much like Diablo except I'm enjoying this even more.

Thanks for the info. Seeing others enjoy it much moves it up on my backlog.

not me, but I'm win 7 on Nvidia. I cant speak to XP, for the gog version, but I know the retail version worked on XP.
So cool, this one was in my wishlist :)
Thanks GOG!
This game was a total surprise to me. I had LOTS of fun playing it, I was totally addicted. Then I finally decided to play the first Diablo, thinking it would shatter Darkstone into pieces, and you know what? I loved it too, but I had more fun playing Darkstone. It's a really really really good game, and I guess even Diablo fans will love it.

EDIT: I've just posted about this promo on my blog. It's in Portuguese, but there are lots of screenshots I took while playing, so it may help you guys decide whether you should buy it or not: http://www.gagagames.com.br/?p=35088

A gem promo every wednesday? Yay! :D
Nice! :)
One of my wishlist games, didn't have to think much. BOUGHT! ^ ^
Nice price, but I'll pass on this one. Now if it was Titan Quest fixed version with the expansion, or Severance Blades of Darkness then I'll be interested.
Played it in the past, rly fun game, sadly can't afford it right now.
But you can't go wrong with that game, if you like H&S.
Not my cup of tea but the idea of having gem promo every Wednesday is definitely excellent...
