I've had this problem for quite a while, and I've tried many methods to try and solve it.
When I click on the GOG Galaxy, or on a game associated with the client, neither will open, leaving me unable to play the games I've bought. I tried troubleshooting and opening with administrator's permission, yet it didn't work. Meanwhile, GOG Galaxy appears to be running in the background, as showed my Task Manager, but it didn't seem to use as much memory as it used to. I decided to wait it out, and see if perhaps, it needed more time loading, and after thirty minutes, nothing happened, and GOG Galaxy was still running in the background.
I saw other topics related to this issue on the website, tried them out, and none of them seemed to work. I then got sick of trying over and over again, and uninstalled GOG Galaxy, reinstalling it afterward. I had to sit and wait to reinstall my games, as they got deleted as well, and a couple of days after, I was hit with the same issue again. I repeated the process, got troubles with uninstalling which lasted over an hour and a half, compared to a couple of seconds previously, although that might've been my fault, I played a bit of The Witcher 3, and the next day, again, the same problem. I thought I'd give it some time, but it still doesn't work. I genuinely don't want to go through this for a third time, and I hope you can help me with a solution, or some things to try out that my work.
Thanks!

I've got a few thoughts regarding your problem. Though I've had galaxy fail to start, usually rebooting my computer solved it.

*Do you have Galaxy installed to the default location "C:\Program Files (x86)\GOG Galaxy "? Installing it elsewhere could possibly cause an issue.

*Are you running Galaxy from a standard user account, rather than an admin? Running some games / programs as a standard user can cause issues.

*Have you tried opting out of the "public beta galaxy testing"? You can do so in your galaxy setttings

For your games, you should be able to re verfify the installs rather than re download and install them. I would contact support, and file a ticket if none of the above helps. Good luck with the fix

You can always download an play the games without Galaxy if it's too much trouble for you.

Actually he can still play all games he already installed using Galaxy without Galaxy so there's not even the need to redownload them. Galaxy is not necessary to actually play a game. Achievemenst and such might be a different thing.

Nope. They just need to be reimported into Galaxy. Uninstalling Galaxy won't uninstall the games as well.

Regarding your problem of Galaxy not working anymore after a few days I would recommend to contact support and sending them your Galaxy logs as well. (which already was posted here as I just read).

Just to note, I'm experiencing the same problem here. Was fine up until the day before yesterday.
FWIW, a re-install of Galaxy has fixed the issue for me.
Did you find a solution? I'm having the same issue right now.
I also suddenly started having this issue. Tried reinstalling gog galagy, and run as admin. Nothings worked so far.

Keep getting code 740 problem needs to be elevated whenever I try to launch it from the installer
Mine started this today. It's asking me to log in. I enter my PW and the GOG launcher just stays. It won't open.

Things have been down on GOG's side on and off.
I just started to experience this. I was having issues with GOG syncing my save games, which happens from time to time. Usually, what I do is close the client out and when I start it again it actually updates or something, and then the save games sync. I tried again this morning and it won't let me log in. I put in my password, it gives the circle like it's logging in for about 1 second, then it goes back to the password screen. And it's not telling me my password is incorrect either. If I intentionally mistype a password it just tells me my password is incorrect without actually trying to log in.

Mine as well, played through Galaxy this morning then half an hour ago I where about to continue playing and then "Nope". Asking for password, when entered, nothing. Just asking for password again...
Same here, there seem to be some technical issues today.
Just reporting I have the same problem.
The website works, Galaxy doesn't.
Same here...
