JohanLiebheart: Thanks Dorzalty. I realized people must be logged in to view my profile that is why it wasn't working as I thought, like for example, a steam profile link which everyone can access.

Galaxy team, are any more privacy settings planned? I wish the privacy offered was more modular. I think the Galaxy Client needs to be better in every or most aspects compared to the Steam client if it wants to compete. Right now, Steam offers a bit more control and modularity. I understand this is just the first itteration of the profiles feature, I am just curious if that aspect will be further developed.
avatar
Dorzalty: No problem. :)

And there are privacy options. You can set everything to private (only me), viewable by GOG friends or GOG users. You can even set account visibility (whether people can find you via username, email or friend recommendation) and your wishlist visibility.
Oh I know about them, but as I said they are not modular. Those privacy options are designed with a "nothing or all" approach. For example you han hide game details, but you cannot choose which game details to hide and which to expose, etc, etc. It takes more development time, yes, but if they implement this approach it will be better than what the Steam client has to offer.

Dorzalty: I'm looking through the settings of Galaxy and I don't see it. How do you access the Overlay and take screenshots, view FPS etc etc? I thought it was Shift + Tab but it doesn't work in Witcher 2, Witcher 4 or Mount & Blade*. It seems really strange that the Features tab does not include instructions on what keys are used for the features, where screenshots are stored, or allow you to change those keybindings or even where to store those screenshots.

*I reinstalled Galaxy just to be sure it wasn't due to a bad install but that doesn't seem to have helped.

BKGaming: Shift + Tab opens the overlay. CRTL + Shift + Tab opens the FPS counter. F12 takes a screenshot. All of these features only work if the game supports the overlay. Witcher 3 supports it. Mount & Blade does not.

You can tell what games support the overlay by going to the installed game on the left side of Galaxy, clicking MORE -> Settings -> in-game overlay checkbox. Make sure it's enabled.

You can also enable /disable the overlay globally by going to the GOG COM logo-> settings -> Features. If the overlay is enabled and the game supports it you will see a notification when the game is started similar to Steam.
That's not working for me. I've tried both shift/tab and ctrl/shift/tab to even attempt overlay while using supported games Cuphead and Witcher 3 GOTY. All pressing shift/tab does is bring up the actual mouse pointer. No UI, no notification if i got an achievement. The overlay just doesn't seem to work at all. It's been that way since i downloaded GOG around December 2017.

And yes, i went to settings of each game to check "In game overlay: Display notifications and access GOG Galaxy when in game" and I'm on version 1.2.41.110 in the galaxy.

Xamtweth713: That's not working for me.
Not sure. It works fine for me on every game I have tried. Something running in the background may be interfering with it, so make sure nothing is running other than Galaxy. I suggest submitting a bug report too.

Dorzalty: I see, that's a shame about Mount & Blade. I didn't know it was about specific games, thought it was just a Galaxy thing. However, do you perhaps know if could certain programs stop it from working on games that do support it? I'm not getting any notifications on Witcher 3 and it is definitely enabled within Settings.
avatar
BKGaming: Yea I think programs like RivaTuner mess with it. Basically I would shut down anything that has an overlay feature that impacts games.
I don't have that, I don't think, but I'll shut off any other program similar to it and see if it'll work. Hopefully it does, or I'll stuck trying to get AMD overlay working with it.
Cannot Upload Screenshots to Forum taken ingame via F12 with GoG Galaxy.
Okay, I checked. I do not have RivaTuner or anything similar to it installed. GOG Galaxy simply will not allow me to access the Overlay or take screenshots of any supported game in my library. :(

EDIT

Oh my gosh, I figured it out! It is AMD GPU related! I had to open Radeon Settings and turn Scaling Modes off and then reboot the system to take effect. Now I can take screenshots in GOG Galaxy. I should have figured the cause would be stupid AMD (again!).... -sigh-

Pillars of eternity stuck downloading. It's at same point for over an hour. What should I do?
Played Neverwinter Nights Diamond for few hours, GOG Galaxy didn't sync at all.

Edit: I restarted the Galaxy and the game disappeared from the game list (as if i uninstalled it). What sorcery is this GOG? O.o

Never used that, but the forums software bugs out if the file ending is in upper case (JPG). If that's the case with your screenshots, try renaming the filenames to lower case endings.
Hello all,

So I was having problems with galaxy launching battletech. It would lock up, and sit there for a few minutes. So I decided to close galaxy, and launch the game w/out the use of galaxy. When I used the start menu shortcut, it opened galaxy, and launched the game through galaxy.

Now, one of the big selling poitns of GOG, is that you don't need galaxy to run your purchased games. You can use galaxy as a download client, close it, and run games w/out it at all. So this new development is a little scary. Is there a new setiing somewhere, to restore this functionality? Or is galaxy like steam now, where you cannot run your games w/out it?

This is quite old now, you can make a shortcut to the game exe for yourself, as the standard shortcut launches Galaxy and Galaxy the game.

The only reason I still deal with Galaxy is because running the client as well as the games isn't required - in fact, my profile shows little activity because I launch the games from my Applications folder in order to save RAM and bandwidth. If the Galaxy client EVER reaches the point where users must run it in order to launch the games, then I'll do to GOG AND GALAXY what I happily did to Valve and Steam: send them an email telling them to delete my account no matter how many games I bought over the years.

I permanantly lost 168 games, sure, but the only game I miss is Cities: Skylines. To regain control over aspects of my hobby I'll make sacrifices. I currently have more games on GOG than I ever had on Steam, but I'll choose another hobby if GOG gets to that point.

Create your own shortcut that doesn't use Galaxy. No reason to make such a big fuzz about it.

Just to mention from another thread, it appears they also reduced the file upload limit to a half a meg now without telling anyone or modifying the "Add New Post" text when you visit the forums in a browser.

That may also be an issue since screencaps are usually very large.

Does GOG Galaxy have any plans to add a copy and paste feature into their client? It would be really helpful and user friendly.
