Click the Galaxy logo button on top of the sidebar and select "scan and import folders" - it will find all compatible games within that folder and add them to the Client.

2. For remaining GOG game INSTALLATIONS
Find the game in the Library (click on the image of the game), then click the More button and select "Manage Installation" -> "Import folder" and point the folder selector into the folder where that game is installed.

Hanglyman: I don't have anything against Galaxy. To be honest, I haven't even tried it yet. It just seemed like an unnecessary extra layer I don't need. I was considering giving it a shot eventually, out of curiosity. GOG's forcing it on me has changed my mind.
avatar
korell: It's not forced on you though as you can choose to download Classic Installers instead of the Galaxy Installers. But I agree that there should be a setting to remember your preference and make it clearer.
Okay, "forced" is admittedly a bit strong. There are ways around it and you can uninstall it, after all. My point is that there's really no way to avoid accidentally installing it at least once, and it's unnecessarily difficult to keep from accidentally installing it every time after that until you go on a deep search for those options. A simple, visible checkbox on the install screen (NOT the options menu) would have avoided any trouble. I got my solution so I'm happy, but it still creeps me out that GOG is essentially making Galaxy an "opt-out" program, then hiding the "opt-out" switch.

TheTomasz: Enjoy, play games and Merry Christmas!
A good Christmas present would have been Galaxy 1.3.0 but this update with more bugs fixed will have to do I guess. Just sayin... Merry Christmas. :P

In their view it's better for it to be opt-out to cut out support request from non-technical users who don't understand they need Galaxy for cloud saves, achievements, etc to which they apparently have received a lot of. Technical users should know to check installer options or menu option before installing something.

Not saying this a proper or even correct view but I can understand where they are coming from...

trooper6: So, ever since I updated to 1.2.29, I've been having trouble with Galaxy.

Specifically, I start Galaxy, then after a few moments a get a pop up message that reads:
(%appName%—Error, Connection to Communication Service was lost and could not be restored! GOG Galaxy will now shutdown)

Then it shuts down. What to do about this? Do I just wait for a new update? Is there something else I can do?

I'm on a Mac running OX10.13.1
i am starting to see this issue, every time reproducible on high sierra and galaxy_client_1.2.32.21.pkg

i have never seen this issue before, but i am visiting and not using my usual internet connection...
Attachments:
Since updating galaxy to the latest version yesterday (i may have skipped afew builds since i hadnt launched galaxy for maybe a month) to check wich of my installed games had updated, galaxy only recognizes the instalation of the 3 most recent shown games in my library, wich i also think were the last 3 i installed yesterday.

Now for me this is a huge problem, even if with 2 simple but tedious or unacceptable solutions: my gog games are installed among 3 folders with afew modded games in each of those.

I could either:
- manual scan and import each games that i have installed that galaxy previous recognized, a very tedious process since it amounts to afew hundred games installed
- ask galaxy to scan and import those 3 folders, wich will likely break the modded games. Something i'm not willing to do just yet considering the work i had modding them (the IE games BG, BG2, TOEE, Torment, Oblivion).

Edit: Well i took a gamble and did a global scan and import on one of the folders with Oblivion, and seems it did not break the modding, so thats some good news.

Today my GOG Galaxy refused to launch - says no MSVCP140.DLL. But it's there, in C:\\Windows\system32 !
I tried to reinstall Galaxy with no effect. I tried to delete all MSVC Redistributable 2005 packages hoping Galaxy would install them with no effect.
Could you help me?

P.S. I use Windows 10 64-bit with latest updates

++ SOLVED ++
I installed MSVC Redistributable 2017 both 32-bit and 64-bit and then Galaxy started

So um I guess this is the first achievement I have unlocked since you guys redesigned it. While I like the new animations and stuff, I'm not sure how I feel about them opening in the top middle of the screen and ignoring the position setting. I assume that is not a bug?
I am setting up a new computer. How do I install my old games on the new with GOG Galaxy? Currently they are set up on an old laptop with GOG Galaxy.

I did set up GOG Galaxy on the new PC and I had hoped my game list would show up automatically but it doesn't. I am signed into my account on GOG Galaxy.

They are still on your old machine, not your new ;). So either you can install them new or copy your gamefolder to the new comp and import the folder into Galaxy.

What is the path to this game folder?

Where you saved your games, don`t know. Press the GoG symbol, click on settings, choose downloads. Check where "Game Installation Folder" points to. There are your games. This folder has to be moved to new comp.

Too complex. Steam displays all my games on my old PC and I can Stream them from the old PC or reinstall which is what I really prefer. I do not play with Mods so keeping them in sync is easy. I won't be buying on GOG anymore.

You want to make it easy to transfer games to a new installation then have Galaxy create a package that can be moved and reinstalled. KISS, Keep it Simple Stupid works best. I have games in more than one location which makes it difficult to transfer games. This is something Galaxy should do for me. All I should have to do is have a big enough "portable drive" to copy games between PC and a interface that imports that file for me and updates Gog Galaxy.

1 click to create file on portable drive (I select the drive of course)
Move portable drive to new PC.
1 click to import file into GOG Galaxy on new PC (I select the portable drive of course).

That is about all I should have to do.

Wow, too complex to copy over or to install again. Streaming only works when both comps are on and you can only play on one of them, even if you want to play different games.
If you want your Steam games on the new PC you either have to install them too, or copy them over the same thing as with Galaxy ... wonder whats less complex there :D
It would be great if we had a link to forum things about the game we are viewing in the store page.

Not gonna happen, considering that most of the threads in a game-specific forum are about technical issues, bugs and so on which could drive potential customers away.

TheTomasz: This should help for the problem with Galaxy start you have reported on the forums :)
It did :)

Galaxy is starting normally again, no more delays. Thnx!
