The Galaxy Client is starting to behave more and more like an annoying DRM thing. I decided to test how intrusive Galaxy would be to an offline system by blocking it with my firewall.

I just installed double dragon into my custom directory and Galaxy installed itself into Program Files (86) without asking.

The second thing is that after the games shortcut was placed on the desktop I tried to launch it only to get an error message about Galaxy not being able to update.

In the need I was able to launch the game, but Galaxy is really starting to piss me off. GOG Please change the way works. Maybe you could make it ask if we even want it installed.
If it works the same way as AVP, you can launch it without Galaxy. There should be a second icon or executable with the capability to play it without calling Galaxy. You might loose multiplayer but you'd gain peace of mind.

It's just an alpha version, final version wont have these annoyances ...

That's a must as far as I'm concerned.
This kind of concerns seems to repeat from time to time and from users to users. GOG dev team should be waiting some positive feedback about the client, not just complains.

Remember Galaxy still being an Alpha version, which means it still in a very early version to make conclusions about it.

Besides that, GOG team have already stated that the program will be totally optional. If you don't want to use it just don't.Please read the Venom post as almost all details or at least a majority about Galaxy is stated there.

People have been known to lie before. We all should keep putting pressure on GOG over this.

I tried to install the game with the net disconnected and it worked without issue, it didn't ask to update or anything.

I suspect you issue is caused the way you tried to block it in the Firewall, it must be incorrect/incomplete, so it is still able to connect to GoG server to see there is an update but is unable to download it.

EDIT: Also you can totally bypass it by launching directly the ddtrilogy.exe file; it's only useful if you want to play in multi-player.

As well as letting you choose where it installs.

A company will not lie about their primary attractive, being GOG's DRM free.

I am very exicted for Galaxy because is easier to have a client that auto update / organize my games than do it by my self. The day it get me pissed off, I will not be using it anymore so is not big deal.

The "real" Galaxy (i.e. the one being Alpha tested) let's you choose where to install it.

The one with coming with Double Dragon is an "abridged" version that is used to add support for multiplayer (similar to the one that come with AvP), I suspect it's probably there to allow peoples not participating in the alpha to still be able to play on-line.
More OPTIONS please, not fewer. Automated crap need the ability to be turned off. Give us more choices, especially when it comes to data being transmitted to a server.

Yes,that's the trouble nowadays too many clients sitting on P.C.
It's annoyed me since Witcher Adventure Game, when it phoned home to update Galaxy when I tried to launch the game, when I didn't want Galaxy in the first place, and it locked me out of the game because the internet connection was too slow.

I'd suggest always disconnecting your internet connection when trying to play a Galaxy game.

Everyone in the Double Dragon release thread was like, "oh no, man, everything is totally cool". Seeing this thread reminds me that I just shouldn't ever buy a game with Galaxy and bid adieu to the site once it's officially released. Glad I hadn't yet pulled the Double Dragon trigger before stumbling onto more grumbling.
I think they may have mentioned something about Galaxy being integrated in the installers already, but yeah, clearly if it's going to be in there it should be optional to install, not forced on you.

I'd imagine that won't be an issue in the long run though. Encouragement to use the client will obviously happen, but I doubt something like the above will be a regular occurrence after the release, apart from bugs on occasion.
Galaxy is pretty much like my first contact with Uplay. Offensive, horrible, and promptly uninstalled.

Way to piss people off even before it's officially out.
