It seems that you're using an outdated browser. Some things may not work as they should (or don't work at all).
We suggest you upgrade newer and better browser like: Chrome, Firefox, Internet Explorer or Opera

Yes, this is not good at all.
For once I think all Goggers are in agreement. This is our greatest fear (see attached pic)

KnightW0lf: you should just leave gog then -_- since it's the same thing on gog website and not just gog galexy becuase gog site also uses the same facebook login...
avatar
ironhorse384: That's funny because it only occurs when I'm on galaxy not the website itself.
it's this on the browser for some reason the client is "connecting" to facebook every time on the forum although not actually connecting to facebook i believe it's an warning or error page since even if you could facebook through gog you stills shouldn't see that page.

i'm kinda shocked people use galaxy for forums it took years for people just to accept the client option after the "force client" problem in the past

I was about to start a thread about this. I have noticed it only happens when using the Gog launcher, whever I navigate the program. Firefox always opens this link: https://staticxx.facebook.com/connect/xd_arbiter.php?version=44#

Same here, I thought I was the only one getting that specific link. It scared me because I thought there was malware on my computer.

Same with me. I thought it was some serious virus or some other sort of vicious malware. I feel relieved now knowing it's on the Gog's end. Let's see what was this all about.

Just like so much here. I've lost faith that they'll actually fix anything, or rather that something more egregious won't break when they do. Their web/tech teams seem like old school hackers slapping everything together piecemeal.

This made me less worried seeing that other people have similar problem like me
I was always defending galaxy and gog. But this........this is not OK. Not at all. It shows that our data and our pc's are not safe with gog.

The Facebook login support should be deactivated entirely. It was a terrible idea back when it was introduced (and got a lot of criticism) and things like these show that it still is. GOG should take the privacy of their users way more seriously.

Agree and one of the reasons that turned me off Galaxy in the first place.
If I had to venture a guess, it looks like GOG Galaxy may be using the Facebook Messaging platform (which is available as a service for businesses and does not require users to be on Facebook) and is probably how they are providing messaging services in Galaxy (as opposed to writing their own solution).

It's quite possible they are using a script from their SDK that is now out of date or perhaps need to update their own use of it in their scripts.

Either way, they do need to fix it as it seems to be freaking people out and there's nothing like seeing a Facebook URL (even in software as a service) which is going to start making people distrust the platform.
Is it happening only for those who use Firefox browser?

Update:
Sent this message and the same webpage opened in my default Microsoft Edge :P
