Please use: http://mantis.gog.com and include
1. steps to reproduce the bug (if possible)
2. screenshot or movie showing the bug (if possible)

Where can I find Galaxy logs on my computer?
On Windows 7 or later: C:\ProgramData\GOG.com\Galaxy\Logs
On Mac OS X: /Users/Shared/GOG.com/Galaxy/Logs

== FEATURE SUGGESTIONS ==

Please use: http://www.gog.com/wishlist/galaxy. For feature suggestions and votes on them please try do explain how Galaxy and its users will really benefit from it.

== IMPORT ALREADY INSTALLED GAMES TO GALAXY ==

1. For GOG games installed using installers from the last few months (so called Galaxy-compatible installers)
Click the Galaxy logo button on top of the sidebar and select "scan and import folders" - it will find all compatible games within that folder and add them to the Client.

2. For remaining GOG game INSTALLATIONS
Find the game in the Library (click on the image of the game), then click the More button and select "Manage Installation" -> "Import folder" and point the folder selector into the folder where that game is installed.

== KNOWN ISSUES ==
- throttling max download speed is not yet possible
- notifications related to incoming chat messages and friend requests does not always disappear instantly when consumed and may require reloading Store page
- games imported from existing installations will auto-update once, even if updating is disabled
- Moving Galaxy from /Applications on Mac OS X will stop the app from working
- Galaxy cannot be launched by other users on the same computer

For everyone who has a problem with missing api-ms-crt dlls in Client's versions post 1.1.5:
Please install one of those windows update: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/2999226 https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/3118401
You may need to update Windows to meet the requirements for these:
For Windows 8.1 and for Windows Server 2012: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/2919355
For Windows 7 and for Windows Server 2008 R2: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/976932

You can also try reinstalling Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributables 2015 (x86) if you meet above requirements.
Available here: https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=48145

If above instructions doesn't work for you, create a separate issue on mantis.gog.com and we'll try to help you individually.

Please note that this solution only helps with the missing api-ms-crt dlls.

Answering this question: Why 1.1 doesn't work after updating to 1.2?

This is happening probably due to incompatible database from version 1.2, please delete this folder:
%ALLUSERSPROFILE%\GOG.com\Galaxy\storage
usually
C:\ProgramData\GOG.com\storage\

Then you'll have to use scan&import (menu under the top Galaxy logo) function to see your games back in Galaxy Client.

RottenRotz: Is there any way of changing games names under thumbnails in GOG Galaxy?
avatar
Blackdrazon: If you go to the game's folder, you can find a file called "goggame-########.info." Edit the "name" parameter in this file, and that should fix it when GOG loads!
Nope,nothing happened.But thanks for helping!
Anyone else have an idea how to do that?

Galaxy seems much much slower now. It takes 3-5 minutes for it to even pop up when clicking on it.
Just leaving this here. :P

Is there any way to tell the client not to create start menu shortcuts when installing a game? If I'm using the client, I don't need the shortcuts.

Not yet, unfortunately.

This error most likely means that something in your system is corrupt or missing. Now I can't remember what it was in my case but likely candidates are Microsoft Visual C++ runtime and .Net runtime. As I do some coding I would think corrupt runtime for C++ was more likely culprit. Sorry that I can't be more helpful.
After today's update witcher 3 (2.7 GB) galaxy bad displays installed DLC. Sorry for my English.

Do you use Kaspersky Internet Security? I had a similar issue with Pillars of Eternity and after disabling KIS Galaxy was able to download everything properly.

No, I don't. I've already downloaded the standalone installer and installed the game with it, but it's something that should be fixed.
GalaxyClientHelper.exe uses a lot of memory ~175000k.
I like the galaxy but it may be better to run games outside the client.

Not that it is a problem, but it is a better experience if your computer is running quieter.

Galaxy Client is a full blown web browser based on the Google Chrome engine, so it's going to use at least as much memory as any modern web browser when idle. Keep in mind that a large portion of the RAM used by web browsers is the content that they are displaying, decompressed images, video and other content. That's true even if the content is not currently being viewed due to the way that all web browsers cache data for performance. 175MB of data is actually quite small for this.

If someone's computer performance is negatively affected by using the Galaxy client to launch games, then the computer is probably resource constrained enough that they should consider either not using Galaxy client, or using it just to download/install games then exiting it to launch them from the Start menu or shortcuts instead. I would also recommend closing any web browsers or other applications that might be running in the background on such machines also though as that's likely to have an equal or greater impact on RAM usage as well.

I used to be stuck with a 2.8GHz P4 Northwood with 2GB of RAM using Windows XP, so I know what it can be like to be stuck with a legacy system like that, it can be painful. :) Most newer games as well as other technologies are either unusable, unplayable, or just really painful. One must resort to various manual system optimizations to drag it out as long as possible, but eventually the best optimization is to buy or build a new computer with modern specs. Not always doable right away, but big sighs of relief for sure when one is able to. :)
I didn't know that about the browser, thanks.

My computer is a newer i5 with 16g ram and a Geforce 750ti. I went with something like this because I only play older games, maybe indie games sometimes.

It doesn't seem to be struggling to play games at all.
this
client is still very off compare to likes of steam

i just want to play Master of Orion and heck I cant even successfully download the thing
It fail to auto search the already installed previous version folder, then it uses it OWN temp download folder and i had it downloaded in original folder but it fail to trigger the install to the manually selected original GOG games folder where the game is...
it just keep stuck in the final 19 mb.... for HALF AN HOUR, then I close the whole client and when i restart the client it goes auto download YET AGAIN in the GOG games folder...

i studied software in uni, and I am pretty sure the part of the code for client to auto search stuff or by default go to the previous GOG install mechanism as secondary default has yet to be written in the codes.

So i close the client again and copied the files from galaxy temp to now GOG temp but.. it fail to read that file as 99% complete. it STILL REDOWNLOAD THE WHOLE BLOODY THING...

come on... GOG, there are other established clients out there, alot of their little features is where it made them work and keeping their client base, please learn from them when you plan these, the road ahead is long.

For this version it would fail a lot of users who want their games organised their way in their PC.
Atleast you can attach a warning for user to reboot once they change the folders, save them the download time...

Steam went though all the crap for years.. so yeah
Good luck in the rocky road ahead

for Australia backwater that counts download limits, i would want 3.5 GB of my download limits back thank you very much....

The new Master of Orion?

First off remember this is a open beta and it will have issues. Galaxy is suppose to download to the !Downloads/temp folder when downloading games or patches. This is a temporary folder Galaxy uses when downloading, once the download is done Galaxy will move the installation to the game directory specified. The "Install games to:" location in setting is where you want your games to be installed, all your games will default to this location.

If it's the new one it should be a Galaxy compatible install. Use "scan and import" and point it to wherever you GOG games are installed. Galaxy should check what game files you already have and download only what is needed. If it's one of the older ones, you may have to go to Library > Find Game > More > Manage > Import Folder if the game was installed with an old standalone installer. You could also use this method for the newer "Galaxy compatible" games, I've had better results with Galaxy actually checking the game folder before downloading when using this method. Galaxy is far from perfect though in this regard when importing.

I've seen people have issues though with downloads getting stuck at the end, it's not something I've experienced though. Not sure what you can do about that.
