The family of four has settled in. They’re staring listlessly at their television as a poorly dressed, fat man bumbles onto a stage to the sound of pulsating dance music. The stage is bare but for a large screen and the faint glow of lasers, which play madly off the host’s silver suit.

“Evening, ladies and gents,” he says, attempting to sound avuncular. “I’m your host for this evening, Chesterton Gammond. You’re watching Mayhem, Murder, Prizes! It’s the show where the deaths are real and the prizes are wonderful. Here’s how our show works.”

He gives a detailed description of the show’s team divisions, lottery power draw, and win conditions.

“As for the prizes,” he says, “you’ll just have to wait and see.” He gives a wink that looks more like the precursor to a stroke and then says, “Let’s meet our contestants!”

The screen flickers to life, with the show cutting to a video package of the contestants. The first person to appear on screen is…

I’ve given a link to the setup so that everyone knows what they’ll be getting into. I will be using that setup verbatim, so it will contain all the same roles.

Here is how I’ll be handling the draw:
1) The player list will fill up until we have enough players (obviously);

2) I will send everyone their alignment, which will be decided by RNG;

3) Once you have received your alignment, I ask that you send me, via PM, a whole number between 1-50 and your preferred role;

4) The draw will follow the guidelines in the above link, and all of the powers will be distributed to those that have won.

I kindly request that you do not make any allusions to which role you will be picking, either in the sign up thread or with other participants outside of said thread.

1. JMich

In! I need to argue in a game setting, not a general thread. Mostly for sanity reasons, mine or others.
Huzzah! Huzzah!

I am back in, please sir.

[EDIT] Holy f***. You really can't pick a standard setup, can you?

I'm placing my bid for Paranoid Gun Owner.

Oh wait, we're not supposed to say.

Nevermind anyway - I want that exploding Doctor role from last game, where I sneak around at night and murder people in the name of medicine. ;)

I was so ready to sit this one out... but damn it this sounds interesting :)

In please!

Not entirely sure I understand the whole role selection system, but it sounds like fun.
I would like to be in please!

The second glamour reel began to play. It began with a close up of a man's face, he was preposessing and square jawed, and panned out until his whole body was visible. He sat atop a high chair, framed on either side by statues that depicted fantastical, lion-like creatures.

"Hello," he muttered. What followed was the usual sort of interview. He spoke about preparing for the game show, how he'd read numerous books about the art of debating, followed a strict dietary regime, and exercised for hours each day. The promo package intercut this explanation with images of him lifting weights, eating salad, and browsing his local bookstore.

The show then cut to a close-up of his head as he explained why he wanted to participate in the show. He lived in, he said, and by extension, his son attended school in, an impoverished inner city suburb. Many of the children attending the school, he earnestly explained, where involved, or so he thought, in activities unbecoming of young boys and girls. So it was his sincere hope that he could win and receive a cash reward to help his son's fledgling little league programme, thus giving back to his..um...like, community or whatever properly.

He then asked the crew if they could edit out his umming. Before anyone could answer, a din could be heard. It sounded almost like the patter of hundreds of little feet. Suddenly, from the mouths of the lion-like statues a number of small, grey, long eared creatures sprang. The first ten or so sprang at the man, jumping all over him and pounding at him with their fists. All the while still more of these creatures crawled from the statues' mouths.

After a minute or so the room was filled with them, and the cameraman panned back to give the audience an idea of vast number of Edit Elves in the room.

"Edit Elves!" they shrieked, mercilessly beating the, by now, unconscious game show participant. After a few more minutes of beating, the restless crowd suddenly stopped. One of the elves climbed atop the prone man and yelled,"No editing, you hear!?"

The camera shook up and down as the cameraman nodded. This seemed to appease the elves, and they began to wander about the studio in large numbers, making lewd, suggestive remarks to the staff and generally being a nuisance.

The rest of the video package was short, and chronicled the man's road to recovery from a mild concussion and several nasty bruises. It ended on a shot of him running up a hill, looking into the camera and saying, "I'm here to win." The video package faded out.

Seriously, while I know you were joking, I should have been more specific about what roles were on offer. Here are the roles on offer:

1)Doctor;
2) 2-Shot Tracker;
3) 1-Shot Vigilante;
4) 2-Shot Same Night Roleblocker;
5) Vanilla Vengeful;
6) Role Cop;
7) 1-Shot Commuter;
8) Jack of All Trades that has Neighbourise, Fruit Vendor, and Redirector.

I don't know how many shots I'll give the JOAT. Please read the wiki to see what each role actually does.

I'm in! And someone has already been mercilessly beaten by Edit Elves!

I hope nothing bad happens because I don't have time to finish reading right this second...
Yay! I'm in, please!
*yawn* I just woke up and saw CSPVG made a sign up thread and I'm not the first on the list. I'm in now. And I'll win the whole thing just because he didn't put me as #1 on the sign up list.

Edit: Can I be a Super Saint? Pwetty pwease? With sugar on top?

I changed my mind. Again.

Is Serial Killer available?

Uh oh.. another edit...
Oh, and while we are selecting roles: I'll go for Joker. They are always so popular!
Interesting. Lift has better tastes than yogy. Yofy likes being serial killer, but Lift likes being a serial killer with style, like the Joker.
When I say my orison to the God of Moderators, I shall ask him, "Why, Dear Lord, have you forsaken me? Why am I beset by well-natured trolls?"

The GoM shall, I suspect, answer by saying, "For you were a fool to accept this high office, My Child. You are not fit for it, and it was meant for another."

Joker? Shit, can I be Batman?

Actually, he sucks. All the superheroes stand around and be like, "Yo dude, what's your power?" "I can lift a building." "I can fly through space." "I can see through ladies' undergarments" etc., etc., and then they turn to Batman, and he's all "I have dead parents". Then they're all like "That's cool Batman, you really kick ass", and then they all laugh at him and he goes home to his cave and engages in pederasty.

I was always a Marvel guy.

Since Lift probably meant Jester, I'll actually take Arsonist. Because fire. Fire fire fire FIRE!!!

Get used to it, dude.

[EDITED] Just for the hell of it.
