Krypsyn: Edit by way of post (EBWOP)

Oops that list should have been "From most scummy to most town".

Also, Vitek should be moved to position 5, between Ubivis and pazzer.

N0x0ss: What is role fishing ?
avatar
Krypsyn: It is when someone seems to be trying to figure out the roles of other players in the game. This is scummy because power-roles would be good targets for nightkills. The discussion on the coin mechanic may give scum clues as to who may or may not have a power role, and that is why I am against talking about it until we know more about the system. At that point, town will be less likely to make a gaff and let go too much information.
Could you ellaborate why you think I might be scummy ?

Up till now you've seemed to concurr with what I've been posting.
I am here, keeping an eye on the thread, but until the posting weirdness gets fixed, I find it best not to try and post a lot, especially seeing as now the quote links seem messed up.
Also, I still haven't read anything that was too scummy, only the usual day one accusations and inside jokes. Will probably start pulling strings tomorrow and see if anything unravels.

It is a very weak read; all my reads are weak at this point in the game. But, I linked to Post 60, and that is what jumped out at me.

Your arguments against Damuna ( e.g. color choice of avatar and being indignant about lectures) in that post seem like an after thought. In fact, the statement about being against a "strongest suspect" could be scum pre-emptively distancing from a fellow mafioso who is attacking a probably town.

You make a joke about Vitek making typos? This is just filler, and I think it just seems like scum trying to add more "useful" information to a post.

Then, at the end, you start to make predictions on the night kills. This is very close to telling town power roles what to do with their powers. This is another scum tell.

All in all, you take no firm stands, but just seem to be trying to look helpful. so, I get a scum read off you. A weak one, to be fair, but it does move you close to the top of my list.
I personally am very conflicted at the moment. My initial thought would be to say that Krypsyn, Damuna, and N0x0ss are on the top of my list. However the interaction I've seen up to this point by all three of them appears to be drawing much more attention to themselves than scum would want.

Then again, it may simply be that they've posted more than anyone else, so it's just easier to speculate on their leanings than some of the other players. I'm definitely going to need to see more posts from some of the others before I'll be able to make anything like an informed decision.

Interesting theory, and one which I really can't defend against. I have voted and singled out scum-buddies in previous games, so it would even be in character!

Exactly...that's why I'm a bit disconcerted at the moment. I know if I was the mafia, the first thing I'd do is create some very obvious back-biting between members so that all the towns folk are divided. This makes it much harder for them to come to a unified decision and would allow some of the quieter members to sway the vote enough to take out a townie or two the first couple of lynches.

Well, you get into some really huge WIFOM (wine in front of me) issues either way.

What I do as scum is try to play exactly how I would play as town. I put the fact that I am scum entirely (well, mostly) out of my mind while posting. Especially on the first Day. If a scum-buddy seems legitimately more scummy looking, then he will get my vote. If none of my scum-buddies look particularly guilty, then I go after the person who does.

My theory is that the best way to look pro-town is to actually act pro-town.

The trouble is that a person can never truly put out of their mind completely that they are scum. They ultimately, have a totally different agenda. Regardless of who they vote for, or who they say they suspect, there might be clues in language and tone that might tip people off. That is the part of the game I really enjoy; parsing posts looking for patterns.

The other main problem with this technique is that people don't regard townies with the same eyes... thus there are only approximative conventional socially accepted behaviors...

I don't really know wich of Over-acting or Under-acting pays during the first days, but in the end play as you like and don't try to hide anything, because trying to look descend could make you look suspicious.

-----------------------------------------------------------

I might only have one vote against me for now, but the tendancy has crearly been against Damuna and I (Putting us in the top 3 scum list with a variable 1st position)

We're on A_Future_Pilot top 3 Scum list, Kryspyn top 3 Scum list, Nmillar's top 3 Scum list .

Just an observation note worthy.
Might be a mafia plan to guide other townies on us and lynch one of us, or might be coincidental.
Too early to say though.
Well ok then..

Very early on the first day and we have lots of meaty stuff to go at I must say.

Its late for me, so not going to come out with a massive list of reads on everyone, mainly because it's far too early to HAVE any reads on people.

I have a rule on first day that with concrete information being non-existent, the smallest indicator should be given more weight. The person who breaks the RVS and jumps on someone first has a higher chance of being Mafia in my eyes than not. Which would be Krypsyn this game.

I'm not liking this spat he has going with Damuna at all. It smells a bit of a forced spat that can conveniently be pushed under the carpet and forgotten about when something else grabs the attention - ie its scum-buddies getting in early and creating distance between themselves. It just comes across all a bit contrived...

early shouts for Mafia for me are Krypsyn, Damuna, and N0x0ss. N0x0ss for the early attempts at slinging mud everywhere at once.

But meh - its all slim pickings on first day, it may just that they have been the shoutiest, but like I say, we have nothing concrete to go on so the smallest thing has to be considered...

vote Krypsyn

Going with my rule for now..

Robbeasy: early shouts for Mafia for me are Krypsyn...
Not surprising. :)

nmillar: Then again, I'm wary of the quieter people too. SirPrimalform and pazzer are notorious lurkers and have both turned out to be scum on a number of occasions.
Pah, a number of occasions? I've only been scum once and it was my first game. I was town in all other completed games I played in and a SK in #6 (the sadly uncompleted one).
avatar
Rodzaju: But what colour will you be tomorrow?
This one.

I think I'm going to keep a lower profile today, so that others can take the stage.
I am a bit lost right now, any chance for a second vote count?

Ubivis: I am a bit lost right now, any chance for a second vote count?
(I logged on just now to do that! Watch this space!)
Ok, quick look at game thread shows me two things.
1. I am probably the best mafia player ever because I am able to deflect even while I am not playing? Doflecting, really?
2. All those fake scum lists are beyond stupid.

2.1. They are based on very flimsy arguments. Seriously you had coherent reads after 1 day of play and after half of players made about 2 posts? In that case I am probably worst mafia palyer ever. I congratulate all people who were able to already gain reads on i.e. pazzer, SPF or A_Future_Pilot.
2.2. They give mafia great opportunity to find soft target and to push some meaningless case. It's great way to see whom people find scummy so who is worth pursuing and it allows to thorw some soft accusations to see if some of them sticks.
2.3. Most of you will change them very quickly and will probably have trouble with it later on.

About N0x0ss. I agree that proclaiming me town for diasgreeing with nolynch is not good thing and could backfire easily beacuse it doesn't confirm anything and I could easily fake it (well, not fake it but stick it with to still appear town and also beacuse I just don't like nolynch), but I also know, that it's N0x0ss playstyle so I am not judging him about it yet. If you look at Game 12, he was quick to proclaim someone town there too.
