Exactly...that's why I'm a bit disconcerted at the moment. I know if I was the mafia, the first thing I'd do is create some very obvious back-biting between members so that all the towns folk are divided. This makes it much harder for them to come to a unified decision and would allow some of the quieter members to sway the vote enough to take out a townie or two the first couple of lynches.
Well, you get into some really huge WIFOM (wine in front of me) issues either way.
What I do as scum is try to play exactly how I would play as town. I put the fact that I am scum entirely (well, mostly) out of my mind while posting. Especially on the first Day. If a scum-buddy seems legitimately more scummy looking, then he will get my vote. If none of my scum-buddies look particularly guilty, then I go after the person who does.
My theory is that the best way to look
pro-town is to actually act
The trouble is that a person can never truly put out of their mind completely that they are scum. They ultimately, have a totally different agenda. Regardless of who they vote for, or who they say they suspect, there might be clues in language and tone that might tip people off. That is the part of the game I really enjoy; parsing posts looking for patterns.
The other main problem with this technique is that people don't regard townies with the same eyes... thus there are only approximative conventional socially accepted behaviors...
I don't really know wich of Over-acting or Under-acting pays during the first days, but in the end play as you like and don't try to hide anything, because trying to look descend could make you look suspicious.
I might only have one vote against me for now, but the tendancy has crearly been against Damuna and I (Putting us in the top 3 scum list with a variable 1st position)
We're on A_Future_Pilot top 3 Scum list, Kryspyn top 3 Scum list, Nmillar's top 3 Scum list .
Just an observation note worthy.
Might be a mafia plan to guide other townies on us and lynch one of us, or might be coincidental.
Too early to say though.
